(More customer reviews)We have 4 kids ages 9,11,15,17 so toilets in our home get significant use. I was unclogging toilets at least once a week and every time; my poor kids had to listen to me rant about flushing after they did their business, flushing again after the paperwork was done, and then a 3rd time just for good measure (so much for high efficiency). The last flood caused over $5000 in damage to our home.
After that, I did lots of research and decided on the Drake despite the fact they were harder to get - can't pick one up at the local hardware store.
On the inaugural use, the darn thing clogged and was a bear to plunger because the bottom is shaped in a long oval. I was concerned we had just wasted our money on 2 new toilets.
That was 4 months ago and we haven't had a single clog in either toilet since then!
1 - The water comes out around the whole edge of the bowl so it stays cleaner.
2 - Although this toilet is high efficiency, the standing water level is higher which also keeps the bowl cleaner and reduces odor while in use.
3 - When you hit the handle once very quickly, there is a big "whoosh" and the small jobs disappear instantly. It's hard to tell it uses any water at all. If you hold the handle for a second, more water goes through but again, very fast so it seems to create a vacuum that sucks everything through. It's like a surprise attack on whatever is sitting in the bowl.
4 - Some new toilets have a skirt which looks like a pain to install. The Drake still uses exposed bolts so I was able to install by myself.
5 - We got the taller elongated version which has cut down on the bad aim my boys have.
The only down side I see is IF we do ever have a clog again, it is tough to plunge because the plunger does not seat well in the bottom of the toilet.
I HIGHLY recommend this toilet.
