Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I only have one room about 400 square feet to cool in the summer - an upstairs bedroom.
This unit does an adequate job of providing comfort on stuffy summer nights.
It is only 1100 watts so you can afford to run it for a few hours to cool a room, and remove the heat. It consumes enough power that I wouldn't plan on running this unit constantly unless you are off the grid.
Plus features include an outside exhaust tube and function for excess heat. To some extent this unit functions as a heat pump in addition to a cooler. The unit looks nice. There is a remote control which also functions as the main control when it is returned to its cradle on the unit. The controls are relatively simple.
Negative features include the obligatory digital razzamataz to get it to do what you want it to do - a simple set of manual controls would be preferred and would work just as well (better if you have to fumble around in the dark). This isn't exactly what I would call "portable" on a regular basis, but, it isn't very stressful or demanding to dismantle it for storage in a closet for the winter.

[Model CPN10XC9]I originally bought an "evaporative cooler" to cool my bedroom in the summer. I foolishly believed the advertising. It turned out to not be an evaporative cooler, but, an "ice water cooler" - you had to add one third of the water as ice in order for it to cool. When I did a rough mental calculation, I concluded it was cheaper and more energy efficient to buy an air conditioner than to consume the outrageous amount of electricity necessary to produce the ice for the "evaporative cooler."
