(More customer reviews)Background: This product supports modules: griddle top, burner and grill. The griddle and grill module are supported only in the left portion of this cook-top. This product can support two modules at a time.
Problem: When the product is configured with the normal burners in the left pair, it is impossible to lower the gas flame to support simmering. (You have this capability in the right burner pair.) GE Service responded to this "problem".
Learned from GE Service that this is a product design issue relative to safety. Since the left portion of the cook-top supports the grill/griddle, its gas control is designed such that its flame cannot be lowered to the same level (simmer) as the right portion (to insure the grill/griddle flame does not extinguish while the unit's exhaust fan is on).
Result: Simmering can only be supported on the right half of this cook-top.
Of course, GE does not document this deficiency anywhere; if we had known this we would have selected another product.
