There are some plastic parts and the unit doesn't feel as sturdy or as well made as a Rapid Reel that I purchased about 3 to 4 years ago that was all metal construction and built like a tank. The fittings were also heftier in the previous model. The quality has defintely slipped a notch or two. Still better than the plastic hose reels on the market, but a disappointment for the price and as compared to an earlier Rapid Reel. It appears that a concious decision was made to reduce manufacturing costs, which in turn, sacrificed quality.
