Bostitch CWC200ST 3HP 4-Gallon Oiled Twin Hot Dog Compressor Review

I bought one of these compressors a couple of months ago after doing carefull research and actually going to a repair facility here in AZ that handles warranty repairs for a variety of brands. Comparing quality versus price the Bostitch CW200ST was a winner.
So I bought one to use with a Bostitch nail gun and stapler while restoring my parents house. I estimate that the compressor has about 15 (fifteen) hours of use by now. The oil pump reaches pressure rather quickly but the pressure regulator cuts the power at 120 PSI rather than 125 PSI as prescribed. The condensation drains are installed in a bad place and when open do not drain because they are too high on the tanks I estimate that it will have over a QUART of water inside each tank before any will reach the drains. You will have to tilt the compressor down and rock it side to side to get the water out, furthermore when tilted the lower drain hits the floor impedig drainage so you actually have to lift this rather heavy machine and tilt it and rockit at the same time in order to drain...A real pain!!! the handles are not in the right places and the unit does not balance well at all.
Shortly after purchasing the unit one of the Quick Disconnects on the compressor will not seal itself after the hose is taken off and will merily leak all the air out in about one minute, I had to replace that so I could use the machine. It is rather cumbersome to unscrew the disconnects as they are too close to each other and the pressure Gauge. For about the last five hours of use I started to notice that if left pressurized overnight the air was gone in the morning upon closer inspection I could hear a faint hiss comming from somewhere behind the regulator It was not much just enough to leak and turn the machine on about every 15 minutes even if I did not use air. Yesterday the manual regulator prooved to be the culprit as when I started the compressor for the first time it would not hold air at all. The two halves that make the assembly where the manual knob is placed have came apart where they are threaded together. I took the disconnects off and loked at the problem. It looked like vibration had caused the two parts to came undone. I Screwed them back together and put some red thread locking liquid on them. I put everything back together and left it overnight to set. Today I power it on and it run up to the regular 120 PSI. I put my head next to it to listen for the noise of air escaping and sure enough there was a faint hisssss... While I was trying to figure out where the noise is caming from The back of the manual regulator popped loose again suddenly letting all the air escape in an instant startling me and prompting my wife to ask from the kitchen some ways away: "did you do that on purpose?" Well NO. The Zamak threads are soft and do not mesh. They are too loose and thin hence the problem. The machine is unusable untill I get a replacement hopefully of beter quality. Unfortunately I have to get the exact size and probably same model since it mounts on the front panel with a plastic threaded ring and space is rather limited and, it neds to have the same ports and orintation so it can take the various hoses and ports connecting to it... Overall the tech was right the actuall compressor is well done I believe he said it was Italian made the rest is rather sloppy and not thought out well. There is a small tag on the unit, it says: "Made in PRC" I don't think that is nowhere near USA

This unit has turned out to be an exceptional value. All the nailers work great and the compressor of course has other uses around the shop. After completing my first project using the unit my only regret is that I didn't spring for it years ago. It makes far more difference in speed and quality of assembly than I had imagined.

Bostitch MIIIFS 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Pneumatic Floor Stapler Review

Bostitch MIIIFS 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Pneumatic Floor Stapler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the MIIIFS stapler to lay approximately 1,700 sq. ft. of 3/4 inch red oak flooring in my new home. After installing well over 1,400 sq. ft. here are some of my observations:
1) The tool makes it very easy for a novice to put down a nice, tight hardwood floor. If the boards are laying tight an easy swing of the mallet is all it takes to fully seat a staple (more on this later). If the board is warped the MIIIFS can stand up to a solid mallet smack without any trouble. The mallet's plastic face, by the way, does not show any signs of cracking so far.
2) The stapler efficiently uses the its air so you do not need a big compressor. I have been using a 1.5 hp unit with a 6 gallon tank. Output is set at 85 psi. I doubt such a small compressor could supply two nailers simultaneously, but it handles one quite nicely.
3) The stapler did develop a small air leak near the top shortly after I began using it. The amount of leaking is small (based on psi drop at the compressor) but does make a distracting noise. This leak does not affect the function or reliability.
4) At your starting wall you need to face nail the flooring until you get about 6 inches from the wall. After that you'll have enough room to get the stapler into position.
5) As you approach the far wall the stapler can be used up to the last 13 or 14 inches.
6) As mentioned earlier the tool only requires an easy mallet smack. However, if you don't swing firmly enough the staple will not seat fully. This is usually caused by crowding against the far wall and not having enough room to swing the mallet.
7) The firing knob is too stiff to actuate by hand reliably - the mallet is required. It would have been nice if there was a way to trigger the stapler by hand then you could use it much closer to the far wall.
8) I have not had any problems with jamming. The unit I've been using has reliably shot every staple right down to the very last one in the magazine.
9) I have heard some rumors of staple-style flooring nailers damaging the floor's tongue. After closely examining several hundred staples in oak I'd say that about 2 or 3 percent show any signs of tongue damage. Some of this infrequent damage is due to stapling through a knot or due to handling. Some is due to the MIIIFS. I'm not sure how this compares to nail-style nailers. Anytime you send a fastener through kiln dried hardwood you're bound to have some occassional splitting.
Would I buy the MIIIFS again? You bet I would. Despite its few minor shortcomings this tool has saved me a LOT of work and the price is lower than other pnuematic nailers that I've looked at.

Bostitch MIIIFN 1-1/2- to 2-Inch Pneumatic Flooring Nailer Review

I'm a small volume custom home builder with a crew of five. We install the hardwood flooring on most of our jobs. We have used a manual powernailer for years. Recently I purchased Bostitch's MIIIFN floor nailer and now have moved our manual nailer to the back of the tool bin. Just a light tap is all that is required to fire the nail. In the event the board is slightly bowed feel free to swing away and hammer the board in place. This tool is easy on my carpal tunnel and for those who aren't ambidexterious it's a snap to use with either hand. It does take some time getting used to dragging the air hose around with you, and you definitely need ear protection. But the benefits far outweigh these nuisances.
