(More customer reviews)Here is a well-intended product. Basically it provides the function of a Wheelbarrow with the ease-of-use of a wagon. With its large pnuematic tires, pulling the loaded cart over uneven terrain is a relative easy task, assuming of course that you're not pulling uphill. The handle is designed to accommodate a hitch found on garden tractors, so if there is need to pull uphill, a provision has been made. The cart arrives dissassembled but relatively simple instructions make assembly easy. I found an ommision in the instructions that didn't account for 2 brackets that were needed to strengthen the rear axle assembly. This could be a problem for someone who is not mechanically inclined and wouldn't realize the ommission had occured. The "Dumping" feature of the cart is accomplished by pulling on a release handle which disenganges the body of the cart from undercarriage. On my cart this feature is not functioning as positive as I would expect. I will probably improve it with modification. The actual dumpling of a light load (example: Mulch) is done by lifting the body of the cart and having it pivot about a rear pivot arm. The heavier the load that is to be dumped, the more difficult it is to lift the body. So if you are planning on hauling gravel you had better be strong enougn to lift the load.

(More customer reviews)I have a fairly large lot (1/2 acre) and cleaning up leaves in the fall used to take me all afternoon. This sweeper does a very good job. I finished my leaf sweeping in just over an hour. It took some experimenting with how fast to go at first, but after playing with it for a little while it worked great. I'm highly satisfied with it. It does take up a lot of space in my shed, but if you pull a couple of pins the bag detaches from the main housing and you can store it more compactly.

(More customer reviews)I can't add too much to the previous post other than to point out some other assembly tips. I ran into the same problem with the front wheels but instead of grinding down the spacer shims, I omitted the first washer. I just have shim, wheel, washer, cotter pin instead of washer, shim, wheel, washer, cotter pin. I don't really see the point of the first washer and it made just enough room to get the cotter pin in.
One other thing that I wanted to point out is that there is a left and a right to the back axle supports. I couldn't find anything in the instruction saying anything about them but if you mix them up you can't get the wheels on. I found that one out after I had them all bolted together.
Besides that it seems to be a great well made trailer and it's Made in the USA.

It went smoothly, the instructions were great, and there really were no issues until we got to the roof portion. It almost seems like they got tired of writing a great instruction manual and the roof portion left much to be desired. If you read it all slowly and let it all set in, it makes sense. Just read the entire roof section several times and then begin. The more you absorb before beginning the less back tracking you will have.
Over all, A great product and I am very pleased with the purchase. It's HUGE!

The item broke, after a few days of very light use. Since the Gardena's moving parts were mostly made of plastic, the wand could not be repaired. I had to throw it away.
I purchased on of these as a replacement. I wish I had purchased it in the first place.
The Toro design involves strong metal parts in the functioning moving valve assembly, and grip. The Toro is more comfortable to use, and, because the parts that can break or malfunction are metal, instead of cheap plastic, you have a chance of being able to fix it without throwing it away. Its really big capacity accommodates a great variety of loads, the large wheels allow it to be rolled over very unfriendly terrain and its ability to tip up and dump is the icing on the cake. The cart is tough as nails and can be left out in the weather without worry. The only maintenance mine has ever required is adding air to the tires occasionally, like once a year.
Because the cart is narrower than other high-capacity carts, it rolls easily through gates and into stalls with loads of shavings, as well as out with loads of manure, both of which need to be dumped, as do generous loads of mulch and dirt for the gardens and gravel for garden pathways. When in its dump position, remaining contents can be raked out from the front, or the cart can be tipped up on its lip and pulled back by the wheel supports to dump every last bit--and if you let it fall back onto the wheels or even all the way over, no problem. No gentle handling is necessary. The cart is lighter weight than you'd think and well balanced, which adds to ease of handling. It can carry a lot of weight (I've had it loaded with logs bound for the splitter) and awkward loads such as fallen branches that smaller carts can't manage effectively.
This is my one piece of equipment that gets no special treatment at all and more than its share of rough handling. It's a great cart that `lives to serve':). Highly recommended.

What I like:
- Light weight. Light enough to manuever with one hand while the other hand tends the cord on turns. ALSO, this holds easily going across an incline, rather than up, which is hard on the lower back, or down, which is hazardous.
- Height adjustment is spring-loaded, and counter-balanced just right. Raising and lowering cutting height is quick and easy. It lowers in a snap from preferred lawn cutting height to its lowest setting for grass or leaves on the drive or street, which quickly turn to near dust for ease of blow-off.
- It mulches great across the lawn; much, much better than the last 2 gas mowers I've owned. That's probably more due to design than power source -- but the mulching is the point. The clippings from one week's growth just disappear. And the St. Augustine grass common here in Florida doesn't mulch as easily as the bluegrass of Kentucky, as memory serves.
- A metal cutting deck, rather than the plastic offerings from a couple of competitors.
I can't speak to how well the bag works; haven't tried it. Bagging is a waste of time, effort, and fertilizer, imho ...
Drawbacks:
- uhhh ... It doesn't make enough noise to wake the neighbors. (Long story ...)
The padding on the handle is not durable. Not at all. But I see some padded bicycle handlebar tape in its future.

For the past 15yrs I have raked the acres of yard we have --- Thank GOD for this Brinly 42in lawn sweeper! This sweeper picked up hickory, chestnut and pecan nuts as well as medium sized twigs - like the size used for kindling. I truely appreciate the fact that the brushes go only half way across the bar making them easily replaced instead of the entire rotating bar/brush.
First off the positive: it is made in USA---GREAT point, secondly the construction is sturdy, materials used above average, brushes replaceable, wheels turn freely when backing so you don't loose the load you just picked up, can be emptied without getting off lawn tractor, does store flat, very convient to use, maybe because new but did pick up alot of stuff.
Now to the negative: plan plenty of assembly time - two very handy men took 70mins so if not handy plan for more then 2+hours; next instructions poorly written,
One last thought from an opinionated person. I would recommend adding wheels/casters to bottom of bag to help slow down the eventual wear. But until then YES I would buy this again, and again if I had to ---just so I don't have to rake any more. BTW we have owned other lawn sweepers and they don't compare to the quality or job this one did for me.

(More customer reviews)I had talked myself into buying a small rear-tine tiller (my back cannot take the abuse from a large front-tine version) and then I saw this little gadget for ~$200 less. At first I didn't think there was anyway it would be up to the task, but after a fairly thorough literature and market review I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did.
It cut through the sod with no problems as well as a number of finger thick roots. It only bogged down briefly before it spit out a 1/4 of a brick that it dredged up from the soil.
Pros:
Extremely lightweight--I can carry it with one hand
Very maneuverable--should make cultivating an easy chore
Reasonable cost
4-cyle, no gas/oil to mix
Doesn't take up a lot of storage room
Fairly quiet
EASY ON THE BACK
Removeable tines--quick and easy cleaning
Cons:
Small tilling width--takes more time per square foot tillage
Fast idle on running tank dry--SAFETY ISSUE (more on this below)
I was allowing the tank to run dry while I finished the raking and planting. Suddenly the idle began to run up as the tank ran out; when it did the centrifugal clutch engaged and the tiller tried to take off. Admittedly it wouldn't have gone far because it ran out of gas almost immediately after I snagged the handle, but it is something to consider.
Bottom line: I would not want to do a large garden with it. Mine is 5' x 15' and took me about 3 hours to till, rake and plant. At the end of that time I was still in pretty decent shape, pleasantly tired, but not beat up.

There are some plastic parts and the unit doesn't feel as sturdy or as well made as a Rapid Reel that I purchased about 3 to 4 years ago that was all metal construction and built like a tank. The fittings were also heftier in the previous model. The quality has defintely slipped a notch or two. Still better than the plastic hose reels on the market, but a disappointment for the price and as compared to an earlier Rapid Reel. It appears that a concious decision was made to reduce manufacturing costs, which in turn, sacrificed quality.

It then took two of us about 2 - 3 hours to put the panels on and finish the assembly. Only problem is with the bolts, be careful, they are easy to break off when tightening the nuts. (More customer reviews)I purchased the tiller a couple of years ago and have been largely disappointed by it. Yes, it is light weight and can churn up soil, but I agree with another reviewer who found that it drags. Also, getting it started is a matter of trial and error and has nothing to do with the amount of choke. However, my main problem is with the way it handles weeds. I have a lot of weeds in my yard in Louisiana and what attracted me to the tiller was the promise that it would chop up the weeds. In fact the misleading advertisement claimed the machine to be almost a substitue for a weed eater. Well, not only does it not do that but the weeds entangle in the tine shaft so that within minutes the tines have ceased to run. This usually means stopping my work; taking apart the tine pins; and then untangling the weeds manually. By the time one is done, one has spent more time on untangling than in tilling. Incidentally, this is also a perfect opportunity for loosing the pins {note: Mantis is no longer selling the pins by themselves as they used to do, but one has to buy them as a part of a (mostly) unnecesssary kit}
I am sure it would work very well in a location where the only job requirement is to break up the soil...but lets face it, that's not a real life situation, is it? There are usually weeds and grass in those locations one wants to till.
All in all, this is a very disappointing product. I wish I had sent it back when I had the chance.

(More customer reviews)First off, it is not a gasoline engine so it is not going to have the same power due to the limits of amperage typical households can supply. However, even with these power limits I was very impressed with the power this electric chipper has. I was able to chip wood up to 2 inches in diameter with no problem except that the chipper pulls the wood into the machine faster than the machine can handle. So when chipping thick branches it is important to grasp them firmly and pull back when the chipper starts to pull them in too quickly. Be prepared, it pulls hard! If you are patient and feed at the correct rate you should not have any problems with clogs.
If the unit does clog the engine pulls too much power and your breaker will trip, which did happen to me a few times before I learned what the machine could handle. This chipper needs its own 20 amp dedicated circuit or it will trip the breaker when it starts. I live in an older house with older wiring that is mostly 15 amp, which could not handle the current. Luckily, the circuit my refrige is on is a 20 amp circuit that is close enough to a door so the extension cord can reach, but now I have to unplug the refrige when I want to run the chipper. (i'll fix this inconvenience by running a new 20 amp circuit to an exterior plug) So you should plan to put in a dedicated 20 amp circuit if you don't have one before you purchase this.
This chipper is very solidly built. If it does clog the plastic leaf bin is sturdy enough so that the entire unit can be upended to clear the chips, but it is heavy so be careful flipping it. The chipper cone isn't too hard to take off either in case wood gets stuck there. Since it is electric you just flip a switch to turn on and off, which is much more convenient than a gas engine. It is also much quieter than a gasoline engine, but you still should wear hearing protection when using it (no complaints from the neighbors so far).
The wood chips it produces are very fine, but the shredder doesn't work that well on green stuff. In fact, the shredder part is the easiest to clog. I tried a palm frond in the shredder opening and it clogged the machine. So now I just have to pull the fronds apart and put them through the chipper. It seems the shredder isn't much good for anything but dry twigs and leaves. But that is no biggie as it is not hard to feed most stuff into the chipper.
I bought this unit when I read the poor reviews for the cheaper electric chippers (free shipping if you order direct from their site). You get what you pay for. Patriot sells a quality machine that you can buy replacement parts for and that can be serviced. The other cheapo chippers don't even sell replacement blades! What do you do when your blade wears out? Don't buy a foreign-made piece of crap that you'll just end up throwing out. No regrets with my purchase.
