For years I've raked, shredded, mulched, blown, and cursed leaves (mostly the latter). With several acres of lawn and too many trees to count, leaf control was a daunting task both in the fall and in the spring when a lot of the oak leaves fell. After considerable research, I selected the Swisher Poly Lawn Vacuum. The unit was shipped immediately and I had it at my house in three or four days. Assembly was not too terribly hard, though having a helper would have been good. As it was, working alone, I had the thing assembled and operating in a couple of hours. The vacuum that the blower creates is quite good, and it has no trouble picking up anything that the riding mower throws out the discharge and into the vacuum's collection boot. I have managed to clog the hose a few times, but each time it was due to twigs that didn't get chewed up sufficiently by the mower and got stuck crosswise in the hose. Getting the hose "un-stuck" has not been a problem, taking only a few minutes. Unloading the leaves is quite simple, involving unlatching the cart and tipping it back. The way the cart is designed, raising the upper portion with the attached handle causes the cart to tip in such a way as to dump the well shredded leaves out onto the ground. Very simple and easy. Overall, I'm quite impressed with the vacuum. As the title to this review states, I should have had one years ago!

Recieved blower in just a few days. Right out of box the blower's propane canister clamp would not work properly. Called Lehr and they sent out a replacement (it took 10 days). After using it the second time the black exhaust tube developed a break. Called Lehr again and they said they would send one out (it has been 2 weeks and still not here). Lehr's customer service seems very helpful and cooperative, just seems to take a long time to get warranty replacement parts. A few comments... engine starts after 4 or 5 pulls, as expected, and runs smoothly. Air intake is dangerously close to your body for right handers. You have to keep and eye on any of your clothes that may be hanging around the intake. I had a string from my shorts that was sucked in and chopped off. In conclusion, blower is cheaply made for $200. It is built on par with a low end gas blower that sells for half the money. I am still willing to give this blower a chance because of my dislike of gas engines. If it starts year after years with no troubles I can live with it's cheap construction. Only time will tell.
