(More customer reviews)Tried this thing for 3 months. Didn't even catch enough mosquitoes to fill the bug trap. When I first bought it I had an exterminator at the house that was spraying for clover mites. He immediately commented "those things don't work". Guess he was right.

Designed for homes requiring up to 1 acre of protection, the Magnet Patriot is scientifically proven to effectively reduce mosquitoes and biting insects from your yard.
Mosquitoes and other biting insects use the long-range attractant carbon dioxide (CO2) to locate people. Once in close proximity, mosquitoes use short-range attractants such as scents emitted from the skin, to determine which person they are going to bite. The Patriot mimics a large mammal using Mosquito Magnet's patented Counterflow Technology to emit a precise plume of CO2 (converted from propane), heat, and moisture that's combined with an additional attractant--Octenol or Lurex3--to attract the biting insects to the trap. Once attracted, they're vacuumed into a net where they dehydrate and die within 24 hours.
The Mosquito Magnet Patriot comes with the Octenol attractant, an EPA-registered secondary attractant that mimics human breath. Octenol attracts most mosquito species, including salt marsh mosquitoes, as well as no-see-ums and black flies. Those who live on the coast or northern regions of the U.S. should use Octenol to attract mosquitoes, no-see-ums and black flies. For southern regions and Hawaii, the patent-pending Lurex3 attractant is a better choice--particularly at attracting the Asian Tiger Mosquito--and is available for separate purchase.
Through proper placement upwind, the biting insects will be drawn to the trap, thereby reducing the chances of you becoming their target. The heavy-duty plastics and marine grade metals make it ideal for any harsh environments.
The included 50-foot, 12-volt power cord allows placement away from the family area yet near the mosquitoes' breeding and resting areas. Lawn clips are provided to help secure your power cord. For optimal results, run your trap 24 hours a day in order to break the breeding cycle of the mosquitoes in your yard. Your trap will begin working immediately with noticeable results in 7-10 days. Allow a 4-week time frame to see significant results.
An included CD-ROM provides key information for getting started, providing everything you need to know about how it works, optimal trap placement, maintenance, storage and warranty information. The keys to success are trap placement, utilization of the correct attractant for your area and routine maintenance. For optimal catch rate, you'll need to change the propane tank and attractant every 21 days.
