Admittedly, after contacting the seller, they apologized and provided a pre-paid shipping level with explanation that AMAZON.COM was at fault. (The same ad remains on the site for others to fall into the same trap if they need a level quickly and don't have time to play around with return shipping, credit to one's account, and then have to order and wait for delivery from another company.) BEWARE.......

Were adding on to our cabinet shop and this was one tool we needed. We combined this SAL24X ND with our Spectra Physics L130 Cone auto level laser and a brand new Stabila dot/line laser. All 3 have tribrachs.
Our purchase was for only the 24X not the rod since we had an aluminum 16ft rod and a brand new CST/Berger tripod any way.
Setting up this is very easy and straight forward. Calibration took very little time and is recommended before you start your layout.
In this price range and for small construction jobs including a shop or even a home this level will work very well.
The 24X is fine for just about any small to medium job size. You can spend more money than you need to on these levels. CST/BERGER can save you time and money with the 55-SLVP24ND 24X Auto Level Kit

(More customer reviews)I purchased the 200 level transitand found it that performed to my expectations. Unfortunately, the telescope clamp assy broke,it is plastic, making fine vertical adjustments impossible. I called the customer service # on the manual, 800 432 9200 and got no answer, I then called the number in the transit case and got an answer. I requested the part, and asked that it be shipped over night. When it didn't arrive, I again called and after not being able to find my order, I was called back and told that it in fact had gone UPS surface. Berger CST agreed to ship another overnight, but not AM delivery, and it was the wrong size. I am now waiting to find out if the wrong parts were put in the bin for my transit. Terrible customer service would definitely keep me from buying another instrument from CST/Berger.

(More customer reviews)After reading a review made by a user of the CST Berger transit, I decided to try this new DeWalt one. I am very well pleased. Only having been able to find the level version, I decided to order it from Amazon.
From my experience, this is a very useful tool, especially for basic surveying and leveling. I have tried laser tools of this sort and have been disappointed.
Recently, I used this transit to do a site survey for installing a satellite TV system in a heavily wooded area. Since the transit does not include a magnetic compass, I placed a Silva plate compass on the top of the telescope, while level. Fortunately, there were no iron or steel close enough to affect the compass and to keep it from seeking magnetic north. Having done this, I easily set the base plate to true north. Using the vertical transit and azmuth feature, I knew exactly where to place the satellite mounting pole for the best clearances between the trees.
Quality of construction, smoothness of movement and fit is quite good for an inexpensive transit.
