(More customer reviews)I am a 65 yo woman and I have an 18' round Intex pool and hated the samll cartidge filter it came with. It would stay fairly clean but hard to vacuum, etc. I set this filter up today and am in love~!!! I hooked up the vacuum I purchased and it worked like it was supposed to (what a concept). The water was crystal clear in 2 hours and the bottom clean. I am very impressed. It was slightly hard to install because the directions are not real clear, but if you have some mechanical ability, it can be done. One thing - the hoses were impossible to put on the barbs until I used the hair dryer to soften up the hose ends.

(More customer reviews).20 Silica Sand not the sand at home depot filled the filter with 200 LBS. of the sand. I pulged in the pump a lot of of sand blew into my pool. now its going all to the bottom of my pool. now im going to my pool store sand getting the .20 silica sand which is 11.49 unlike 5.97 at home depot ( and the sand at home depot is not .20 silica sand it is the sand for a sand box which is much to fine and will slip thought the pump fins ) The reson i gave this pump 5 stars because it was my user error. over all it work great after i got the right sand now the pool is cristal clear.

My local pool company tried to sell me a 3 HP pump that was way too big for the pool and about four times the price of the Hayward. Buying on-line save a fortune compared to pool companies and installation is laughingly easy (connecting three wires is the hardest part) The site will walk through your specifications and requirements for any type of pool. After doing the math and comparing prices, I decided on the higher end Hayward SP3010X15AZ 1.5 HP because of the larger basket and the excellent reviews from numerous sites and magazines. It is an excellent pump. Very quiet, very efficient.

(More customer reviews)Several years back we had our pool redone, and my wife had a new Hayward pump and filter installed. While the filter worked well, the pump never seemed to move the pool cleaner systems around the pool right. We tried a few different systems the Kreepy Krawley, the Barracuda etc, and I finally thought that I should get the Hayward and that might work better with the Hayward pump? It was the best at cleaning the pool floor, but was the worst yet with the walls. Finally this summer, the pump completely siezed up and after several tries at repairs, I gave up and decided to by a new pump. I considered just getting a new motor, but I had a thought, that "what If the pump is just the wrong one?"
I have a pretty large pool for a back yard pool, and the max flow pump was a 3/4 hp which seemed like not enough, so after considering volume and distance, I decided on the Super Pump 1 1/2 hp. It was a very simple switch, just two wires,(and a ground wire of course) and the plumbing was an exact match.
Now my Hayward pool vac system literally flies around the pool, and does the work in much less than half the time it would have taken before and goes into every inch of the surface sides and bottom.
I wish I would have bought it sooner.
