This saw is made by Dolmar Sachs in Germany. It is a detuned version of Dolmars 5100 Saw that has become a favorite of pros. the saw has a chrome cylinder great anti vibration system.it also meets 300 hr emission standards.this saw has a great power to weight ratio and will cut cut as fast as any other premium saw on the market.the chain that comes with it cuts Ok.I replaced the chain with a full chisel woodland pro chain (9.95 At Baileys forestry supply)and the saw cut much better.

Echo CS-370 16" Gas Chainsaw Review

I've always liked Echo products. Their engines have a lot of torque at the low end. I was also looking at Stihl, but I had a Stihl gas string trimmer that was a bear to start. The dealer assured me however that their saws start easily with the proper technique. So maybe that isn't an issue, however some of the reviews still mentioned that the Stihls were difficult to start at times. I also viewed a video of a Stihl saw cutting and it seemed very noisy. There was also another review showing the Echo to be very quiet compared to other saws. So anyway I settled on the Echo and am very pleased with the smoothness, quietiness and power of this saw. It is well balanced, fairly light, starts easily, burns clean, and cuts logs like butter. Of course at $260 it is not cheap, but worth it in my opinion.

Husqvarna 235E 16-Inch 34.4cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw Review

Average Reviews:

I had heard a lot of good things about Huskvarna's reputation, and now I can see why. This product is spectacular!
My biggest gripe about most consumer chainsaws is that they are often difficult to start, either initially or when they are warm, so that by the time it starts, your arms are already sore from pulling the cord over and over again and you're exhausted.
This saw comes with a laminated instruction card. Attach it to the case handle and always refer to it to refresh your memory. If you follow the startup instructions, it starts on the second or third pull, every time. And when warm, up to 30 mins of being off, you can usually just leave the choke off and it will start on the first or second pull. So sweet! Why they don't all do this, I don't know.
Reliable startup is the main reason I bought this saw, after being frustrated with my previous Stihl and Craftsman saws that would often refuse to start or constantly needed to be taken apart.
And in case you forgot to stabilize the fuel and left gas in it for several months, the 345 doesn't mind. It still starts up right away. Wow.
The saw also cuts awesome. It's built to reduce vibration, and it cuts hard woods like a breeze.
Maintenance is very easy. Remove the chain guard and clean the guard in the kitchen sink. Then use a little air spray can to clear off the gunk around the chain drive. Clean the saw after each use and I'm sure it will last for years.
I don't know what these other reviewers problem is with the chain brake. I haven't needed to remove the chain brake cover nor fuss with the spring. And I've never had the chain jump off, and that's even when it got pinched.
There's only one negative -- make sure you remove any extra chain oil from the saw after each use, because it will tend to keep lubricating the chain, and 6 months later you'll find an oily mess in the case. But just make that part of your post-sawing maintenance, unless you know for sure you're going to be using it again very soon. (I didn't have any problem leaving the lubricated oil in the saw when the saw sat on the shelf for a copule of months... but after it sat unused for 6 months, I found this to be an issue. But I'm chalking that up to common sense maintenance.)
I've had mine for about a year-1/2 now, and I LOVE it. I almost look forward to trees falling down in storms now! LOL, but it's true. This saw is an absolute joy. Worth every extra dollar.

I have always been a fan of Makita tools, especially their saw, so when I had to buy a chain saw I turned to Makita first. I read all the reviews on the UC4000, which is the older model of this saw, and saw nothing but awesome reviews. Close to 5 stars with over 50 reviews.
So I went ahead and purchased this saw, and boy am I glad I did. This saw cuts through wood like a knife through hot butter. It was effortless how easily this saw cut through a 8 inch diameter tree branch, this is one mean saw. I am used to using my dads Stihl 20inch FarmBoss and this saw didn't make me wish I was using that monster at all. If you need to fall some really huge trees in the deep woods get a big gas saw, but if your just using your saw to cut firewood, take down small/ medium trees, work around the house get this saw. Another thing that is so nice is that all you have to do is 1) put some bar/chain in it 2) Plug it in 3) Pull the trigger and its up and running, no pulling, mixing oil, checking spark plugs, flooding the engine. Just pull the trigger and go.
It is so easy to put this saw together and make adjustments on the fly because its totally tool-less, and that also makes clean up easier. A great feature. This saw may cost 2-3 times more than other electric chainsaws but if you want a tool that will last go ahead and spend the money. This saw will last much longer than 2-3 of the cheap saws and you will save yourself many headaches.

This is a great little saw that I use for cutting up trees and limbs up in the mountains by my cabin as far as the extension cord will reach. I bought it used to add to my gas 357xp chain saw and my 326 pole saw. I have made a lot of money trimming trees, cutting down trees for my customers and added this saw to my collection and really like it. It's true that it isn't as strong as my gas saw, but don't be fooled by it's size - this thing really rips through a 10" tree like butter as long as you keep the chain sharp. I have owned this saw for about three months now, and am amazed at how great this saw is. My Dad has 200 acres of wooded land, and all year long, I along with my family members get firewood from this. My siblings have different types of saws all 20" bars. They have Poulan, Mcculloch, Homelite, and Stihl. I put this saw to the test against these other guys and it wasn't even close! Plenty of power, lightweight, nice balance, and fairly quiet. These weren't small trees either, some were up in the 25" diameter range. By the end of the day, everybody was wanting to use mine. It just doesn't get any nicer than this one. I was able to get this particular model for 300 clams, and would pay twice as much to own it after using it. Believe me that I'm not using this just a couple times a year around the house. I get TONS of firewood and use this saw all year long, and will not be looking to get another saw for at least 5 years because of there great warranty. Thanks Echo for making my family jealous - now I'm not the black sheep anymore!UPDATE 6/22/09
WELL MY SAW HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 2 MONTHS NOW, WITH A BLOWN TOP ENGINE. REPAIR MAN TOOK IT APART AND SENT PICTURES TO ECHO AND THEY SAID THAT I DID NOT USE THEIR OIL AND WRONG MIXTURE. AND NOW THEY ARE NOT GOING TO COVER IT. AS YOU CAN SEE IN MY REVIEW THAT I HAVE WORKED WITH ALL KINDS OF SAWS AND SMALL ENGINES, AND FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT I DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT MIXTURE IS BS. THANKS ALOT ECHO FOR STICKING ME FOR $300 AND WIGGLING OUT OF IT, YOU HAD A SOLD PERSON HERE, BUT NOW I'M GOING TO DRAG YOU THROUGH THE MUD. BYE BYE ECHO - HELLO STIHL!!!!

I finally had to buy a chainsaw. Cutting the trees with a hand saw and axe was getting to be to much work. The 445 is a great saw for what I need - cutting down trees to close to my buildings and keeping the road clear of trees and brush. The biggest tree I cut up so far has been a bit over 14 inches in diameter - a poplar. I've cut birch, poplar, evergreen, and cedar with it. I've used it for several days all day without fatigue from vibration. The saw has plenty of power and was easy to start and use although I had to learn to not flood it with the primer. I purchased the sharpening kit by Husqvarna and found it easy to use as well. I'm very happy with it. (although the review says Idaho I use the saw in Michigan)

Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20-Inch 55-1/2cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw Review

Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20-Inch 55-1/2cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw
Average Reviews:

I just picked up a 455 Rancher about a month ago (today is 4 May, 2006). This is a great saw. I had been using for more than 20 years, and still use to some degree a Stihl 028; another excellent saw.
There are some pros and cons to this saw as with all things.
Here's what I like. It's easy to operate and maintain. Accessibility of the under-cowel components such as the air filter, spark plug, and clutch housing is a no-brainer. It starts easy. In fact, you really don't need the pressure valve. It "pops" after a few short and fast pulls. Remember, once the saw "pops" with the choke, un-choke it and pull it again. You do not need to warm a two stroke with the choke on like you would a 4 stroke engine. Attempting to warm with the choke is the biggest cause of two stroke engine flooding.
Here's what I do not like. The low/hi mixture settings are limited by EPA regulations; a complete and total joke. If you remove the controls to optimize your settings, the warranty is void. But, I think it's better to do that than cook engine from lean settings. There aren't enough chainsaws running in any given period of the day to justify this regulation. So if you are a casual user, really pay attention to the break in procedures. Since the saws run lean, you need to make sure to break them in with extra care. If you use them much more frequently, remove the EPA limiters and richen out the hi/low mix, otherwise you will cook your engine.
Overall this is a great saw. The chisel chains do well for heavier applications. Be careful of kickback with these style chains. You can get low-kick back chains from any dealer. It's all a matter of personal preference.
I have outfitted my saw with an Oregon 20" Bar, chain, and rim sprocket. Once again this is a personal preference issue. The power head of the 455 is plenty and the applications many. If you are a causal user of this saw, talk with the folks at the saw shops for tips and ideas. They are a repository of knowledge and can help you make informed decisions about your saw.
