EdgeStar 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner and Heater Review

SO this unit works very well if no hotter than 82 degrees outside. If its hotter than 82 degrees the unit will only spit out 63 degree air. Which cools a little bit but does not make the cold by any means. I'm lucky if I can hold 73 degrees average room temp with another fan blowing. I have a instant read thermometer I used to test the unit. I have had it for about 2 months now. My office is about 210sq ft and in a basement (no direct sunlight). They advertise that this is a 12k BTU unit (its not) and that it can cool up to a 425sq ft room. It can't.
In dehumidifier basically dose not work until you install a condensation pump. The unit is advertised as "exhausts most or all condensate automatically except under extreme humidity situations" This is the case when the A/C is on but not the dehumidifier. I don't have a damp or wet basement by any means, however while in dehumidifier mode the condensation just does not exhaust like in A/C mode. Without the condensation pump, the unit will shut off after about an hour because "internal reservoir" is full. The reservoir holds about 20 ounces, and you need to go to the back of the unit to drain it. This is messy to do, due to the drain being right at floor level.
The unit itself was cheap compared to brand name, I paid $380 with free shipping. However now today was an exceptionally hot day and my unit isn't really cooling, i would have rather spend the extra $300 and purchased a brand name unit that works the way a typically AC would.

SPT WA-9020E 9,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control Review

I have central air, but my bedroom upstairs is usually 5-10 degrees warmer than the other bedrooms (vaulted ceiling). This product works perfectly even though the room is much larger than 250sq ft.This portable AC only costs 50 cents a day to run, considerably less than running the central air. It's quieter than I expected and the air is very cold. The only thing I don't like is the instruction manual - just not enough info. The exhaust hose must be mounted properly to the outside through a window. All portable AC units create a vacuum in the room and if the exhaust hose is not practically air tight, more warm air from outside will come in than cold air blowing out. I have had it for a week now and it has yet to need the water reservoir emptied.

Ideal for rooms up to 250 square feet, this portable air conditioner features a 9,000-BTU cooling capacity and an energy-efficiency rating of 10.31. The unit also functions as a dehumidifier, removing up to 50 pints of moisture from the air per day (the dehumidifier functions automatically in AC mode). During the cooling process, its self-evaporating system extracts water from the air into the unit. Most of this water then gets recycled and used to cool the cooling coils for more efficient operation. The air conditioner comes equipped with a 3-1/5-pint water tank and two fan speeds, as well as a digital thermostat, digital temperature display, and remote control, which makes it simple to use. Choose between continuous operation or the programmable timer, which can be preset up to 12 hours. The unit also provides a 62- to 90-degree F thermostat, a washable air filter, an activated carbon filter to help remove odor, a built-in water tank or extended water tube for continuous drainage, and casters for convenient mobility. Other highlights include an LCDI plug, fire-resistant PVC plastic housing, a rotary compressor, directional air discharge louvers, and an extendable exhaust hose (up to 5 feet). The unit requires exhaust hose installation, and all standard accessories come included. Weighing 63 pounds, the air conditioner measures 16 by 16 by 30 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

The generator was received in good condition with fast delivery. The unit started on the second pull, however the idle seemed slow. When hooked to the trailer it would not run the converter and the micro wave together. Contacted Champion and was connected with problem solver / technician Paul.He took me completely through the generator, one section at a time, checking and confirming that there was not a problem. We concluded the problem to be slow rpms. He advised me as to how to correct the problem and set the unit at the right rpm. Paul did a great job and has a good knowledge of his product.. Great little generator.

This heat lamp is perfect for my small bathroom. It was easy to install because my bathroom wallboard was off and the studs were exposed in my remodeling. The cover is very attractive and the lamps keep my bathroom toasty. It is much appreciated when I'm coming out of the shower.

Broan 655 Heater and Heater Bath Fan with Light Combination Review

Broan 655 Heater and Heater Bath Fan with Light Combination
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
as a result of doing major home renovations for the last 6 months, i ended up spending quite a bit of time researching all the products and appliances i had to install... so hopefully this will save you some time and headache. i ultimately needed two bathroom fans with heaters for one medium sized full bathroom, and a small half bathroom in my DC rowhouse. and since the bathroom fans had to be installed inside my ceiling, i wanted to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that i didnt have to EVER dig back into my ceiling drywalls to repair or replace.
well, after weeks of agonizing and reading review after review on site after site, i settled on a Panasonic FV-11VH2 WhisperWarm for the full bath, and am SOOOOO happy i did. it was definitely rated for a larger bathroom than mine, and is slightly more expensive than i wanted, but is SUPER quiet (both heat and fan), unintrusive, and does the jobs perfectly. just note that the heat isnt mindblowing, but does a great job if you live in an older house without central like mine, and there's no heat at all in the bathrooms.... a great help while soaking in the bathtub, also if you turn the heat on 15 mins or so earlier on cold mornings with the door closed before going in to brushing your teeth or showering in the am. im so glad i bought it, and wish i bought two! [truth be told, my electrician claimed that the Panasonics were the best from the start, but im still skeptical by nature so i researched extensively anyways. save yourself the trouble.]
for the smaller half bathroom, i regret deciding to spend less, and expect less. my rationale was that the bathroom was so small, was only a half bath, and i wasnt planning on really spending any time in there. however, i did want a heater because it's on a cold wall and FREEZING in the winter. anyways, after reading a ton about lower priced models for smaller bathrooms, i bought this "Broan 655 Heater and Heater Bath Fan with Light Combination" and am SUPER disappointed. it's SUPER LOUD and vibrates like CRAZY in the ceiling both in fan mode as well as heat mode as well as both modes. it does work and does get rid of the stink though, and has a heater as well, though it doesnt really put out much at all (lame even in this super small half bath). i suppose it's better than nothing.... Don't be fooled by the high Amazon.com Sales Rank like i was! spend a bit more and get a better unit. you wont be sorry.
[NOTE- im just a homeowner, do not work for either company, and ive posted this same review on both the Panasonic item i bought as well as this one.]
