Senco Cordless 41 15 Gauge Angled Finish Nailer Review

I use this gun quite frequently during the spring/summer/fall months for installing trim, as I'm part owner of a window installation company. The gun is handy, and when it works, it's a great tool to have. However, I own 2 of these and both have been sent off under warranty to be repaired MANY times. One was just sent off last week.. a few months prior it stopped firing, I sent it off and they installed 'new upgraded parts to fix a known problem'. Well, it obviously didn't fix the problem, as the gun doesn't fire again -- nothing is jammed, it just makes this tiny/short/quiet "squeak" sound, just as it did the time before that. $250 to repair it since their "upgrades" didnt change or extend the original warranty. 7 days later, other one did the same exact thing. The newer of the two was sent off to get fixed within the first week of buying it also. That one is at least under warranty still, but I'm DONE with Senco products. Time to try the Dewalt I suppose.

Porter-Cable CFNBNS 3-Nailer and Compressor Combo Kit Review

Porter-Cable CFNBNS 3-Nailer and Compressor Combo Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had these nail guns for several years. I purchased the set without the staple gun for $299. This is an incredible bargain and you will find thousands of uses for these nail guns. I use the 18 gauge nailer the most to assist with glue ups. I have never had a jam with any PC nail gun that I use. (knock on wood) The compressor is a little loud for my tastes. If you will use this in an enclosed area like a basement, I suggest making a cabinet for it to muffle the sound. Fine Woodworking magazine - Tools & Shops annual issue- on page 106 gives an illustration of how to make one. It works.
December 7, 2008 Update: I have used my compressor for endless hours. I drain the compressor before and after each use. I have yet to experience any problems after all these years.
Update: 1-9-09: I still am completely satisfied with this tool kit. I have yet to have any problems from the compressor or nail guns.

Whether you're installing flooring or completing a custom carpentry job, this versatile and ultra-efficient kit with two nailers, multi-function stapler, and an oil-free, pancake-style compressor will keep you on-track. The brad nailer has a user-friendly design and takes 18 gauge, 5/8- to 1-1/4-inch brad nails, while the finish nailer takes 18 gauge, 3/4-inch to 2-1/2-inch finish nails. There's also a multi-purpose stapler with a sturdy, durable design; it takes 18-gauge, 1/4-inch staples from 1/2 to 1-inch long. Each of these handy tools resist jams, and also offer a problem-solving jam release feature to prevent slow-downs from derailing your job. For added convenience, it's a snap to alter both the depth-of-drive and the exhaust port, and the non-marring nose tip and hardened driver blade ensure durability for long term, reliable performance. Additionally, the compressor provides maintenance- and mess-free results (no more oil spills!), has a lightweight, portable design, and can run on any standard household current. And its 10-Amp, 120-VAC motor, when combined with a full 6-gallon tank and 150 max PSI, has the power to complete all your fastening work in less time. The CFNBNS comes with one FN250B nailer, one BN125A nailer, and one NS100A stapler. These tools also arrive with a sturdy canvas carry bag, 6-gallon compressor, 40-foot air hose with coupler and plug, 3,000 fasteners, oil, and operating instructions.

Porter-Cable CFFN250N 16-Gauge Finish Nailer 18-Gauge Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit Review

Porter-Cable CFFN250N 16-Gauge Finish Nailer 18-Gauge Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This kit is my first exposure to air tools, so this review is aimed at fellow novices. Here's some information that's not included in the Amazon.com product description or the product manuals.
There's no manual for the combo kit. There is a manual for the air compressor and for each of the two included nailers. The serial number for the compressor is what you'll use when you register the kit, which you can do either by mail or at Porter-Cable's web site.
The air compressor has a standard 120V 3-prong grounded power cord. Many larger compressors use a non-standard 3-phase cord in either 120V or 240V. But you'll need a full 15A circuit, so find one that's got no other devices drawing current, or a lightly-loaded 20A circuit.
The compressor's drain valve isn't as depicted in the manual. The manual shows an extension "T" handle. The drain valve on my compressor is just a knurled brass barrel. Turn it counterclockwise by hand to open it.
Included with the compressor are a 25' hose, a male 1/4" quick connector end, a female (brass) quick connector end, and a spool of Teflon plumber's tape. There are no extra parts; you'll need all of these to get started. Wrap a couple of turns of Teflon tape around the threads and screw the female quick connector end on one extreme of the hose, and the male quick connector end at the other extreme. There's no instruction about how much pressure you need; I used a 6" crescent wrench on the connector and held the hose by hand. (That seemed to work fine, as I didn't damage anything or have any air leaks when I hooked it up.) Insert the male quick connector end of the assembled hose into the female quick connector on the air compressor. You'll need to pull back the barrel of the female quick connector to make the connection. Repeat on the other end, inserting the male quick connector end that's already attached on the nailer into the female quick connector end you attached to the hose.
Each of the two nailers includes a box of 1000 nails. These are of middling size (2") for the finish nailer and maximum size (1 1/4") for the brad nailer. Both nailers include 1/4" male quick connectors (attached) but their manuals mention that you'll get better performance with 3/8" connectors (not included). The connectors come with dust covers to keep them clean when not attached to your hose. The safety features work well, requiring you to depress the safety shoe against the nailing surface before the nailer will fire. The nailers also won't fire when there's inadequate air pressure; with the small compressor included you may need to wait a few seconds after firing a dozen nails in quick succession.
Each nailer comes with a "single sequential actuation" trigger; you can also get a "contact activation" trigger, at no additional charge, by calling Porter-Cable's toll-free (in the U.S. and Canada) phone number and reading the serial numbers off your nailers. Estimate 10 days for the alternate triggers to arrive.
The two nailers worked just fine for me right out of the box. The nails seated to just the right depth without any fiddling when the nailer was held perpendicular to the softwood I was working with. They're quieter than I was expecting, too -- just a quick hiss when wearing good hearing protection.
I found the compressor to be shockingly loud compared to the deep rumblings of larger compressors. I went to the other end of the house to get away from the noise during the REQUIRED 15-minute compressor break-in cycle. Even wearing hearing protection when using the finish nailer (as instructed by the nailer manual; eye protection is a must, too) I was startled when the compressor started up. This is a SMALL compressor. It has a maximum 135 PSI pressure, which is enough for most any air tool. But the flow rate is below that required by many tools: only 2.6 CFM at 90 PSI. It's enough for the nailers but you'll need to upgrade if you want to expand your air tool collection beyond these nailers. On the plus side, there's no maintenance required other than to open the drain valve when you're done with the compressor.
Summary: Very good nailers, and an adequate compressor to run these nailers. A really good starter set if you want to spiff up the trim in your house. Just be mindful that the compressor is going to be the limiting factor if your air tool aspirations grow.

This compressor seems to be a good choice. I work with stained glass and this compressor meets the needs for working with glass. Glass needs a lot of air and - continuous air. This compressor meets all of my other work needs also...... power tools, air guns and just about any other tool you can think of. We started out with a 60 gallon, but decided to go to 80 gallon. That was the icing on the cake. No problems, excypt it's not very mobil. It's great where it's at.

The Porter-Cable CPLMC7580V2C 30 Amp, 7 Horsepower 80 Gallon Oiled Stationary Compressor supports heavy-duty, continuous multi-tool usage. At 175 PSI, this 80 gallon air compressor is equivalent to a 195 gallon tank when compared to other conventional 125 PSI compressors. The two-stage, oil lubricated pump is constructed of stainless steel valves, cast-iron cylinders and sleeves for exceptional durability. A compressor of this size can generate a lot of heat, but this 80 gallon compressor doesn't, thanks in part to the use of aluminum crankcase and head in its design which helps the unit run at cooler operating temperatures.

See my review of the N80 I had. The N89C Bostitch gave me to replace the N80 stopped working yesterday. I took it apart. I cannot believe the drive pin is threaded into an aluminum disc with fine threads and no jam nut. A jam nut would cost $.05. The treads in the aluminum disc are stripped out. This is not a high use gun at the absolute most I have put 8 cases of nails through the gun in two years. Now I am hoping a cheap gun has inexpensive parts.
As it turns out the Piston cost $50.00. We'll see how long the new on lasts.

My business used these guns for over 2 years. Overall a good nailer but serious problems with every gun in the long run. The entire nose piece would break off. After this happened to three guns, two of these just after the warranty went out I changed brands. Sorry Senco but the price of the nose piece was comparable to buying a new gun.

Paslode 900420 Cordless IMCT Framing Nailer Review

Paslode 900420 Cordless IMCT Framing Nailer

When me and my brother in law decided to build my house, I started looking for something to help us out. Neither one of us ever owned any kind of nail gun or phneumatic tools. I asked around and read the reviews on your web site. I went to LOWE's and Home Depot to get a closer look at all of the various guns. I decided to try the Paslode Impulse, so I bought one for each of us. I saved... on both by getting them from Amazon. These things are great. I even dropped one twice, once about 6' on a sidewalk. Never missed a beat. They are practically maintence free. Even though they didn't need it I cleaned them once just to make me feel good. The breakdown and cleaning was a snap. They sure made the job go faster and saved a lot of wear and tear on our arms. Not having air hoses laying all around was a big plus. I strongly recommend the Paslode Impulse. I even used the generic nails with no problems.

Ideal for light framing and remodeling projects and high-volume commercial use, the Paslode Cordless IMCT Framing Nailer is compatible with 2.0-inch to 3.25-inch full- and clipped-head nails. This handy, high-performance tool lets you avoid the hassle of compressor noise and hoses. Also, it\'s easy to handle and hold, offers consistent performance, and supplies the right amount of power for a range of uses.
Lightweight, Hose-Free Operation Minimizes Arm FatigueMeasuring 12.0 inches long and weighing just 7.3 pounds, the IMCT Framing Nailer is comfortable to handle and hold. Its 'sure grip' and well-balanced design combine with a soft trigger to reduce arm fatigue. And because you won\'t have to drag a hose with you as you work, you\'ll be able to drive nails better and longer, without undue stress on your arms, hands, and wrists.
Compact, Heavy-Duty Design Works Anywhere and EverywhereCompact enough to work in tight, hard-to-reach areas, the IMCT Framing Nailer packs a powerful punch with heavy-duty construction that can handle tough job conditions. It shoots up to 1,200 nails on a single fuel cell and up to 4,000 nails on a full battery charge, providing a cycle rate of two to three nails per second. And because it offers tool-free depth-of-drive adjustment--no wrenches required!--you can get more done in less time.
Internal Combustion Linear Motor for Robust PerformanceUnlike other power fastening tools, the IMCT Framing Nailer is powered by an internal combustion linear motor. In simpler terms, the nailer owes its robust performance to its motor, which is similar to an automobile's motor. Additionally, the tool ignites a fuel and air mixture to produce the energy needed to drive the motor, and ultimately, the fastener.
Patented Battery System for Consistency and ReliabilityAnother unique feature of this nailer is that it uses a patented system that requires both a fuel cell and a rechargeable battery (the fuel cell is not included). This translates to optimum consistency and reliability, whether you\'re building a deck, working with wall sheathing, or repairing a roof. It also means the IMCT Framing Nailer is entirely self-contained. The tool carries its own fuel supply and battery--along with a supply of fasteners--making it easy to bring with you from site to site.
Lockout Feature to Prevent Blank Firing and Wood DamageThe IMCT Framing Nailer boasts a lockout feature to prevent needless blank cycling, which can waste fuel and damage both the wood you\'re working with and the nailer's components. This feature works by ensuring that five nails will be left in the magazine when the follower reaches the lockout area. Additionally, the tool will not operate when its nail supply has less than six nails.
High-Visibility Magazine and Belt Hanger for ConvenienceThe IMCT Framing Nailer is designed to be exceptionally user friendly, with features that help keep your job running smoothly. First, the load magazine is highly visible, so it helps prevent you from running out of nails in the middle of a project. There\'s also a convenient dual-position belt hanger, so you don't have to lay the nailer on the ground or on top of a ladder, nor do you have to wedge it among rafters. And if you can't remember where you last placed your nailer, its bright orange color makes it easy to spot.
About the Battery Charging SystemThe IMCT Framing Nailer comes with a rechargeable battery and its own charging system. This charging system is the only one that will work with Paslode batteries (both round and oval). When your tool arrives, you\'ll first need to charge the battery. Batteries will generally take five minutes to two hours to recharge, depending on the amount of discharge within the battery.
Dimensions and Warranty InformationThe IMCT Framing Nailer has a height of 14.5 inches and weighs 7.3 pounds. It comes with a one-year limited warranty on all parts, a five-year warranty on all molded nylon parts, and a 90-day limited warranty on the bumper, driver blades, O-rings, and seal rings.

Hitachi NV45AB2 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Roofing Nailer Review

Hitachi NV45AB2 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Roofing Nailer

I researched several roofing nailers and based my decision on the reviews I read about the Hitachi. I have shingled two roofs so far and have had zero problems. The second roof I did was for a friend and he helped with his Poter Cable nailer. It was picky about the nails that were used, jamed often and had no depth setting. The Hitachi kept plugging along and never missed a beat. The depth setting was crucial for the different situations when installing shingles. After years of hammering nails and seeing other guns in action, I highly recommend the Hitachi NV45AB2.

Hitachi NV75AG Round Head 1-3/4-Inch to 3-Inch Coil Framing Nailer Review

Hitachi NV75AG Round Head 1-3/4-Inch to 3-Inch Coil Framing Nailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was in need of another siding gun, and saw the NV75AG just hit the market. Being that I own the siding (4 years use) and framing (8 years use) versions Hitachi makes (both superior products), when it came time to get a second nailer for siding the choice was clear. For several years I have been contempating getting a coil framer. When sheeting walls on the ground I loose considerable time reloading with the stick framer. This gun holds over 225 nails in one coil! And should my stick framer blow a top seal, or sider fail, the NV75AG will allow me to continue.
The gun functions flawlessly, with both the depth adjustment on the gun and a non maring tip included. Hitachi includes all allen wrenches and fittings, something other makers should but don't.
Only complaints, cost and plastic skirting. Cost, well it takes the place of 2 guns. Skirting, easily removed.

The Hitachi NV75AG Coil Siding/Framing Nailer is a flexible pneumatic tool that is compatible with both wire collated and plastic sheet collated nails. This nailer is designed to drive three-inch nails, which are the most commonly used nails for framing, siding, fencing, decking, and many other construction applications. Its lightweight body, large-capacity magazine, and tool-less depth of drive make this nailer an ideal choice for construction workers, contractors, home builders, and other woodworkers.
Safety glasses, three Allen wrenches, and a nose cap are included. View larger.Dual Firing Options Offer Precise or Continuous DrivingFeaturing selective actuation for making tool-less firing transitions, the NV75AG Coil Siding/Framing can be used for a variety of different applications. By simply sliding the selection control up or down with your hand, you can choose between intermittent and continuous firing. Intermittent firing is ideal for jobs that require precise driving, while the continuous setting can be used to fire nails at a rapid pace by using a bumping motion along the workpiece.
High-Capacity Magazine for Reduced DowntimeThe NV75AG features a high-capacity side-loading magazine that's designed for quick, tool-less loading of wire collated and plastic sheet collated nails from 1-3/4 to three inches length. With a nail capacity of 200-300 nails--depending upon the nail size and type--the NV75AG is able to work longer with fewer refills.
Adjustable Depth of Drive for AccuracyThe NV75AG features a convenient depth-of-drive adjustment knob located near the nose. Simply turn the dial to make quick, accurate modifications to the driving depth with no tools required.
Designed for Comfort and EfficiencyWith a lightweight aluminum body, the NV75AG weighs just 5.5 pounds and measures 10-11/16 x 13-5/16 x 5-3/16 inches (LxHxW), so it's easy to maneuver. Its soft rubber grip provides optimum control and extended comfort for all-day jobs.
For further ease of use, Hitachi equipped the NV75AG with an adjustable, 360-degree air deflector. Also, an included no-mar nose cap protects the workpiece and the tool, and a plastic shield deflects wire collation for safety.

Max SN883RH SuperFramer 20-Degree Strip Framer Review

I have used several framing nailers: stanley, passlode, hitachi, senco, and by far this one is the best. It is very light and compact. You don't have the burden of carrying around a large heavy tool. I haven't had any problem with jamming, and it takes standard 21 degree full head nails. It will fit into tight spots that other nail guns can't. I wouldn't buy any other nailer.

DEWALT D55141FNBN 16-Gauge Finish Nailer/18-Gauge Brad Nailer/Compressor Combo Kit Review

I bought the nailer to install 3/4 inch wood flooring. Using the 16 gauge nailer, I was able to fire 2 inch brads throught the tongue of african rosewood flooring. A flooring nailer is recommended for this job but I was able to accurately hit the sweet spot above the tongue every time. African rosewood is much harder than oak and the nailer handled the job without a problem. I also like the versatility of having the 18 gauge nailer which I used to shoot 1-1/2 inch brads through quarter round molding. This unit is light weight but has plenty of power. For $300, it is well worth the price.

With a heavy-duty 16-gauge finish nailer, an 18-gauge brad nailer, an oil-free compressor, and all the fittings you need to get set-up, this kit from DeWalt makes it easy tackle a wide range of finish carpentry and woodworking tasks, from crafting custom furniture to securing molding in place. The 18-gauge nailer can handle up to 100 straight collated nails that are 1/2-inch to 1-1/4 inches long at a time, while the 16-gauge nailer can handle up to 160 straight collated nails that are 1-1/4 to 2-1/2 inches long at a time. Each of these nailers also offers tool-free jam clearing, so a bent or damaged fastener never brings work to a standstill for long, convenient 360-degree exhaust, a unique vertical slide that allows you to select depth settings quickly and without any special tools, an over-molded no-mar pad that grips material for accurate toe nailing and protects your work surface, and a trigger lock for improved safety. Each well-balanced nailer also employs a reversible belt hook that provides convenience for both right- and left-handed users. Featuring a two-gallon tank and the ability to deliver 2.0 SCFM at 90 PSI and a maximum of 150 PSI, the compressor included in this kit is powerful enough to run both of these nailers at the same time, with dual quick couplers to make set up easy. And at just 79dBA, it is surprisingly quiet. You can count on its durability with details like an oil-free, long-life pump, which ensures smooth, maintenance-free operation that never results in oil spilled on sensitive work surfaces, a high-flow regulator, an easy-to-use ball valve drain, and a thoughtful roll-cage design that prevents damage to critical compressor parts. At just 30 pounds and 10.5 inches wide with a convenient cord-wrap feature, this compact unit is easy to move around the jobsite and to store.

Paslode Cordless 16-gauge Angled Finish Nailer no. 900600 Review

Paslode Cordless 16-gauge Angled Finish Nailer no. 900600
Average Reviews:

This nailer works great. If the tool fails to fire or jams frequently (if you read other reviews you'll read about complaints of this happening, where they drepress the nose several times and then it works for a while, etc): CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE ON THE FUEL CELL.
An expired fuel cell will make the tool malfunction randomly (drive 3-5 nails, not work, drive 3 more then not work or jam, etc). Creating huge amounts of frustration.
I have a set of Impulse nailers (framing and trim) and both worked flawlessly when I first bought them. I use them for home projects, that is, it can be a year or more before I use it on another project. Last year I started a new project and the framing nailer started not firing after driving 3-5 nails. I cleaned, oiled and cleaned again with temporary results after a few nails. The "usual procedure" is to depress the nose 10 times on the trim and at some point it starts firing again. Needless to say frustrating enough to make you want to buy a corded tool.
Four days ago I started working on trim, and the finish nailer started behaving the same way. Finally mad as heck I contacted paslode, and they told me to check the expiration date on the fuel cells. Sure enough, both of them were over 18 months expired. I replaced the fuel cells with a new one from the store, and wham, works without hessitation. I offloaded about 100 nails with each nailer and not a single misfire.
[this is now a year from my original post - and both nails run like champs. Never again have they failed to misfire]
I would have rated this as a 5 star, if the manual would have suggested to check the expiration date of the fuel cells. Alas, it is possible that mine didn't say this because I bought mine over two years ago, and they had recently introduced the nailers.

Bostitch CPACK300 3-Tool and Compressor Combo Kit Review

Bostitch CPACK300 3-Tool and Compressor Combo Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I would prefer to give this product 4.5 stars instead of 5
The CPACK300 has been great for my recent remodelling jobs. Compared to the cp3, the kit remains the same except for the change in compressor. From my experience with both kits, the CPack300 has a far more ergonomic & jobsite friendly design. As other have pointed out for the CP3, the compressor handle was poorly designed & weight and size has been reduced to produce the cpack300 compressor. It's a tad more powerful at 40 psi & so much easier to lug around. Guages are protected by a rubber rims & the compressor is as compact as can be, the design is queter than the previous design & queter that similar porter cable designs.(it'll still wake you up in the middle of the night if you keep it plugged in next to you )
All guns require a bit of oil, but work flawlessly. Bostich makes great products made for a lifetime & i'm sure this is no different. The guns have never jammed, and work fine with 3rd party nails, or brads... after about 2000 nails, i have yet to have a jam. The design is great, the guns fire comparatively quiet & have the dual safety feature.
The no mar tips are of hard plastic & in my opinion inferrior to the porter cable guns i've used prior to purchasing this combo. I do appreciate the comprenhsive kit that is included. basically you get a quality stanley tool bag, about $25 worth of nails, staples, and brads.
The only deduction i'd give is to the cheap pvc air hose included, i guess this is true with all pvc produces... it maintains its rigitity & it maye be tough going around corners, causing the user to tug it along. Also it doesn't wind as well as rubber hoses, I'm sure i'll be upgrading the hose once it shows its age.
The whole kit is probably 50 lbs total & take a very small footprint when organize. So far the whole kit is fantastic for the price i paid, about $270 after taxes. It's on par with more expensive kits & it give you alot for the money, including an impressive 7 yr warranty on the guns.
I've laid down about 1500 square ft of hardwood between this bostich & a porter cable combo that i borrowed off a friend. nailed in 150 ft of molding & fixed all sort of problems through out my home. I'd recommend this kit to anyone over the CP3 kit for anyone looking for a dependable nailer/compressor combo. CP3 kit has the inferior compressor
