Neuton Battery Electric Lawn Mower Review

Neuton Battery Electric Lawn Mower

I was committed to purchasing an electric lawnmower. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options and even fewer reviews so was hard to decide! Ultimately went with the neuton and have been very happy. It is extremely light and easy to maneuver and turn which is great b/c we have a couple of hills and narrow spaces on our lawn. I was worried b/c it is more narrow than some mowers (maybe 14"?) but that hasn't been a problem at all; in fact, it makes many parts of the yard easier to mow. Charges quickly and we haven't had any battery problems. Never ran out of charge on our small lawn (takes about 45"). It is quiet (not noiseless, but I can cut early in the morning without waking the neighbors) and cuts well. I'm thrilled not to have a cord, and it is easy to start and stop. Haven't used the mulcher or any other fancy accessories (the local sales guy said not to bother with buying those).

I would buy this again without hesitation and would recommend to others. I didn't give it 5 stars only b/c there are so few cordless electric mowers to choose from in 2005 that I can't imagine this is yet the model of perfection, but for the average small lawn owner (like me), it's a great machine.
Addendum 7/2006: now in our second season and no complaints. We love this machine; it was a great purchase for us.
Addendum 9/2007: third season, great machine. Now that I've seen its durability, I would give this product 5 starts (Amazon won't let me change my original rating).
Addendum 6/2009: fifth season, still totally satisfied with this machine. Blade became "unbalanced" and needed repair in year 4. Battery still going strong (we keep it plugged in all year).

Makita BTD140 LXT 18-Volt Lithium Ion Impact Driver Kit Review

Makita BTD140 LXT 18-Volt Lithium Ion Impact Driver Kit

Four years ago I had a hand crushing injury at work. I'm a manager of a garage door shop and I have to use an impact everyday. My hand would hurt after a long day of using my old makita or dewalt impact. I was so happy when this item was released. It is so much lighter then any of my old impacts. It also does the job. I use it so much daily that I go through 3 batteries a day. I'm not trying to say that the batteries don't have a long life, it is just that I actually use the impact 6-7 hours a day. After 364 days, the impact started to die, the brushes and motor were shot. I was very surprised, I brought the impact to a makita authorized service center and even though it was "very used" for 364 days, they fixed it in less then 24 hours. For one day I had to go back to using my old heavy impact. It was horrible day. I would not live without this impact. I even bought a second one as a back up. Even though the price is higher then some of the other impacts out there (my wife grumbled a little about the cost)I would absolutely recommend this over any other impact on the market!

We've come a long way from sweat and a screwdriver. A hundred years ago, builders would never have envisioned a tool as powerful and efficient as this one. Heck, even 20 years ago. Science has ushered battery technology along, and the LXT Lithium-Ion system that powers this impact driver has a ton of advantages over standard NiMH or NiCad batteries. The Lithium-Ion technology means 1,400 battery life cycles, longer run time, lighter weight, a great reduction in the self-discharge rate and built-in shock-absorbing features to protect your battery.
But perhaps the coolest innovation is what Makita calls its 45-minute Optimum Charger. It actually talks to the batteries it charges throughout the cycle, using a built-in memory chip in the battery and, believe it or not, a CPU chip in the charger itself, which analyzes the data stored in the battery chip to decide on the best charging method at that time.
Slide one of these batteries onto the supremely designed impact driver and you'll be amazed at what you can do. Despite its size (for the record, it's 5-3/4 inches long and weighs barely 3 pounds), this driver kicks out an unbelievable 1,280 in./lbs. of efficient torque, a no-load speed of 2,300 rpm and 3,200 blows per minute, putting it way out in front of the pack. We really like the integrated worklight, too. It illuminates as soon as you pull the trigger, and it stays on for 10 seconds or so after you release the trigger, too - a handy little feature.
Makita's always made ergonomically positive tools that feel good in your hand and take the strain off your body, and this one's no exception. The slightly curved grip is so comfortable, and because it's super compact and lightweight, this driver's an absolute pleasure to run. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Milwaukee 0624-24 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Lok-Tor Hammer-Drill Kit Review

Milwaukee 0624-24 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Lok-Tor Hammer-Drill Kit
Average Reviews:

I bought this drill about two years ago in a combo pack. I have used large spade bits through thick stock and the drill doesn't even flinch. In fact, I think this thing would twist my hand off before it gave! Warning, use the clutch on delicate items! The only drawbacks are the drill is larger and heavier that other 18 volts I've tried and replacement batteries are big bucks. I guess its the price of all that power. I have also used the hammer setting when going into concrete. Works as well as a corded drill. Battery life seems good, you can make a lot of holes and drive a lot of screws on one charge. The chuck is solid but will slip like any other keyless if you don't snug it down. I have worked this drill very hard over the past two years and while I have given it cosmetic scars it shows no signs of giving out anytime soon. Go to a store, pick-up and feel all the 18 volt drills. The Milwaukee just feels much more solid than all the rest. You will not regret this purchase!

I'm a huge fan of cordless tools. I use them every day all day long. The 18v Makita is a wonderful tool. "Powerful", is an understatement. They're sooo smooth!( Love those ball bearings )I have had two now for 4 months. They are a direct replacement for 2 18v yellow drills that weren't holding up. I can't dog DeWalt, because they make too many good products. The new makita's are the most durable drills I have ever seen. I've had 35 from all the major manufacturers in the past 5 years. They are kind of heavy to use all day long .However they are lighter than the DeWalt and Milwaukee 18v drills. The new 24v drills are way too heavy for extended use.

Bosch 13618 18 Volt Brute Tough Hammerdrill Review

Bosch 13618 18 Volt Brute Tough Hammerdrill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned one of these for about 2.5 years and so far no serious complaints as this has been a consistently reliable tool. It has more than justified its high price with its solid performance--for most small masonry applications this drill has proven itself more than adequate. I have been in situations where I have had to really abuse this tool--drilling 1/2" holes in aged cement and while this tool couldn't keep up like a corded it still hasn't died. Oh, and these 18v batteries will work in my 24v Bosch tools, but their 24v batteries will not work in this 18v drill.
The batteries leave something to be desired and the weight still feels excessive to me for 18v--I purchased the 18v instead of an 24v SDS because I don't have masonry applications that often and would like a full-size drill that could handle the infrequent times when I would have to drill brick or concrete, but still be light enough for general use. That said, I have the 24v jigsaw and circular saw from Bosch, and I'm not sure that it wouldn't have been a better idea for me to get the 24v hammerdrill for battery interchangeability. The 18v is still pretty heavy--the carabiner clip on the bottom of the drill's handle seems like a great idea until you actually try to use it and then find it pulling your pants down around your ankles. The drill feels solid and well-made--although on mine the clutch's inked on numbers as well as the BOSCH name painted in red on the side of the motor have basically scratched off entirely. The included side handle is nice and the case is surprisingly decent.
I'm generally happy with this purchase, but I'm not sure it is necessarily the best option out there. I have a Metabo 15.6v I like more for general use and for serious hammerdrills I wish I had probably went either with the 24v Bosch SDS or the comparable Hilti 24v, or even the 19.2v P/C's. If I was doing a lot of masonry drilling inevitably I would have to go with a corded anyway.

DEWALT DW056K-2 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Impact Driver Review

DEWALT DW056K-2 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Impact Driver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We use this driver for running in ½ x 12 lag bolts through pilings. This putts a lot of stress on a driver. The DeWalt has more then enough power to handle this and all lesser tasks. I have used several hammer drivers and hammer drills in my business, this is truly the undisputed "Power King"; however, after running hundreds of lags and screws I encountered a few shortcomings with the DeWalt:\
1.On two of these drivers the anvil (hammer thingy) inside stripped out in less then 3 months. On the plus side, DeWalt replaced them, no questions asked.
2.It a nightmare to get inside and replace the brushes on the work site. Combine that with the reluctance of our rep. to even get the brushes addes up to sending them in for R&R (repair and rebuild) at the cyclic rate. Time = money. I still don't know if the brushes can be replaced, how to do it, or if that is even the problem. I suspect it is due to a small amount of graphite looking dust around the air exhaust vents after long use.
All in all, not bad for hundreds of BIG lags, but to put it into perspective, we also use Makita 24 volt hammer drivers. These have run thousands of big lags with no problems at all! The Makita brushes are a few bucks for a pack and can be replaced in a minute.
My bottom line is: Get the DeWalt for lower production work that needs lots of power, but if you have your driver turning day on stay on, you might want to consider a Makita hammer driver in the 18 - 24 volt range.

I don't get to use this little guy every day but when I need it , there is nothing else that will do. It is very compact and light. It has pretty good torque and speed. Of course you're not going to be running large self feed bits with it. That's why they make the big bad RA drills. This is perfect for tight spots and awkward situations though . It will drive any screw you need it to and works great for tight quarters drilling. Even though it's not the largest cordless , it is the most dependable on the market.

Average Reviews:

I am a licensed, professional home repair contractor and tools are something I make a living with. Buying tools that break down and do not do the job I need them for end up costing me time as well as money. The Panasonic 14.4-Volt Impact Driver is superior to any other impact/driver I have ever used. I own a Hitachi as well as a Makita and they cannot perform even half as well as this Panasonic. I've done my research and every consumer product rating agency out there has rated these Panasonic drill drivers superior to their competitors and now I know why. Their speed is adjustable, with or without a light illuminating the business end of the tool as well as consistent power to to the job when you need it. Plus it also has a dial telling you how much power you have left on a charge. Which means you don't have to get to the top of an extension ladder or inside of a crawl-space to learn your battery charge has expired. Take it from this professional, you won't be sorry with this tool. As a bonus in this kit (ECY142B) you also get a drill driver and a flashlight and if you order before October 15, 2008 you can also send for a free third battery.

The Panasonic 14.4-Volt Li-ion Drill Driver and Impact Driver Kit brings you a pair of powerful tools that are easy to hold and control. Whether you're driving screws, working with tricky fasteners, or drilling through tough materials, these tools are ready to help you get professional results. And both of them run on dependable, quick-charge batteries that are protected by PanasonicÆs unique GuardION system.
Versatile, Dependable Two-Speed Drill DriverIdeal for completing plumbing or electrical installation work, finish carpentry tasks, and general construction projects, this 14.4-volt drill driver from Panasonic delivers 390 inch-pounds of full torque at any speed, so you can be confident that it will get tough jobs done. And with a two-speed gearbox, you can ensure that you're using this tool smartly and effectively. The ability to select high and low speeds to meet the specific demands of different jobs helps prevent you from damaging work materials, saving you frustration and money, and it prolongs the life of your tool.
This drill driver is also equipped with an 18-stage clutch plus drill position. This clutch helps ensure accuracy and control while you're working, and it further extends the life of your drill driver by making sure the correct amount of power is available for a variety of applications.
Other features include a 1/2-inch, heavy-duty keyless chuck, which makes changing bits quick and easy; an electric brake; and a handy belt hook for easy storage when both your hands are occupied with other tasks. The drill driver has compact size of seven inches and weighs only 3.5 pounds.
Time- and Energy-Saving Impact DriverNot all fastening projects are created equal--that's why it makes sense to use an impact driver for repetitive tasks, driving long wood screws, and lag screw fastening, not to mention driving nuts and loosening tough bolts. Unlike traditional screwdrivers, impact drivers like the one in this kit use both bit rotation and concussive blows to drive screws through the toughest materials quickly and efficiently. This makes an impact driver invaluable for jobs like air conditioning installation, automotive repair and assembly, or assembling and disassembling scaffolding.
The impact driver in this kit puts up to 1330 inch-pounds of torque at your disposal, preventing wear-and-tear on your body and helping you get big projects done in no time. With the choice of three speeds, you can customize the driver's performance to meet the needs of different jobs. And at just 6.5 inches in length and weighing 3.1 pounds, this driver fits neatly in tight spaces, which is equally valuable when you are tightening bolts in awkward places and when you're organizing your work truck at the end of the day.
Behind the reliability of this impact tool is a variety of advanced Panasonic technology, including a brushless motor that delivers twice the lifespan of a conventional brush motor. This motor runs cooler than a brush motor, and it offers improved efficiency, resulting in longer run time per battery charge.
This impact driver also makes use of an advanced electronic switch, which delivers twice the lifespan of a conventional switch by reducing the amount of current running through the switch as you work.
Ergonomic Features Keep You Comfortable and ProductiveEach of these tools offers a compact, ergonomic design that reduces fatigue, so you can tackle big jobs that require repetitive screw driving or drilling without worrying about discomfort. Well balanced with comfortable rubber grips, these tools fit neatly in your hands, and they offer conveniently placed controls for intuitive operation.
They each offer an LED work light that illuminates your work area, allowing you to secure materials accurately under dimly lit conditions.
Reliable, Quick-Charge Battery PowerEffective battery power means no more tangled extension cords that can limit your movement or cause a tripping hazard. That's why both these Panasonic tools are powered by 3.0Ah Cobalt Li-ion battery packs that can be fully charged in just 50 minutes.
These battery packs delivers high output with low heat generation, resulting in twice the lifetime total performance of current Ni-Cd battery packs, which you might see used with similar drills.
In addition, these tools utilize Panasonic's unique GuardION system. Panasonic's unique GuardION system monitors each battery cell during battery charging and during tool use to prevent over-discharging and overheating of your battery packs, ensuring long battery life so that your tools are ready to go when you reach for them.
The included universal charger can be used to charge all Panasonic battery chemistries, including Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, and Li-ion, and all voltages from 7.2 to 24 volts.
A versatile flashlight and a molded plastic case for easy transport and storage of your tools are also included with this kit.

I have purchased more tools than I can remember from Amazon, and have never been compelled to waste my time writing a review. However, this tool deserves a good review. I am no stranger to Panasonic drills. I have owned both the 12v and the 15.6v NiMh drills for several years, and use them daily in my cabinet shop. Both of these drills are far superior to any of the competition that I have owned (Bosch, Makita, and especially DeWalt XPR). I needed another drill, so naturally I opted to purchase a Panasonic. What I ended up with was the perfect combination of both drills. The great things about the Panasonic EY7440 include the following.
Extremely light weight
Almost as much power as the 15.6v NiMh (Good for forstner bits)
Ten hours of fairly extensive use per battery charge
Small enough to fit in tight spots
Quick battery charge (irrelevant because you won't be able to run down
the battery before the spare is charged)
The best variable speed trigger on the market Only one complaint. The handle is too small for anyone with large hands. The diameter of the grip is fine, but the distance from the trigger to the battery housing is too short. Not as comfortable as its older models are.

I liked the corded 11a orbital Sawzall so much I went out and bought the cordless Hatchet as well. It has proved to be a quality , useful, and very handy tool. The 18v Hatchet also has orbital action which increases it's usefulness, and it is lighter than the corded one. However, if you have major demo work to do, grab the corded Sawzall. The corded Sawzall can't be beat for big, difficult jobs, but this is the one to take when you have a few cuts to make or need to get into a tight space. The battery run time is actually quite good, but it you are in an attic or crawl space, you might want to take a spare battery just to make sure. It can be used one-handed, and the folding handle makes the saw very versatile. I actually find that I use it as much or more than the corded Sawzall, but I wouldn't want to be without the corded one either. Overall, I have been very happy with this quality tool.

DEWALT DC900KL 36-Volt 1/2-inch Lithium Ion Cordless Hammerdrill/Drill/Driver Kit with NANO Technology Review

DEWALT DC900KL 36-Volt 1/2-inch Lithium Ion Cordless Hammerdrill/Drill/Driver Kit with NANO Technology
Average Reviews:

A little background - I have virtually all the 18v tools that DeWalt has made, including two 18v hammer drills. I have built numerous houses with their tools, and done countless remodeling projects. You could say I'm a fan!
That said, the 36v hammer drill really hasn't impressed me. It is huge, so it doesn't fit in some spaces where the 18v will fit, and the power doesn't seem to be that much better. On the rare occasion that I need something more powerful than the 18v drill, I'm probably reaching for my Milwaukee wrist-wreaker (corded) or a 2" roto-hammer.
I really like the 36v line, and am impressed by the circular saw and recip saw. This drill just seems like a tool without a need. It rarely leaves my shop to go on a job, and I never use it at home either. It was part of a combo promotional kit, so I can't complain about the price, but I don't think I'd buy it outright.

The Dewalt DC900KL Heavy-Duty 36-Volt Cordless 0.5-inch Hammerdrill/Drill/Driver Kit raises the bar for multi-use hammerdrills -- both corded and cordless. Engineered with a revolutionary 36-volt battery, the DC900KL provides professional users with increased levels of power, runtime, and battery life, while maintaining a similar weight to corded and other 18-volt hammerdrill/drill/drivers. The drill gives professional contractors the performance of a corded tool with the flexibility of a cordless drill.
Features, Speed and Runtime Dewalt designed the DC900KL with a patented three-speed transmission that optimizes the speed applied to each application. This feature offers professional end users maximum performance for a variety of heavy-duty applications. For example, the first speed is ideal for use with hole saws and self feed bits when drilling large holes in wood. The second speed is designed for use with auger bits or screwdriving. And the third speed is meant for hammer drilling into concrete. Additionally, the DC900KL is equipped with a 0.5-inch self-tightening chuck that automatically tightens throughout operation. This provides the end user with over twice the bit gripping torque of a traditional keyless chuck. To withstand the most demanding applications and the most extreme jobsite environments, Dewalt has designed the DC900KL with a high level of durability and reliability. For added comfort and control, this multi-use drill has an anti-slip comfort grip that makes it easy to handle.
When compared to the industry's leading corded and cordless hammerdrills, the DC900KL drills faster and longer than the competition. When tested against other corded hammerdrills by drilling a 1.375-inch hole saw into 20-gauge steel, the DC900KL was able to drill through the material in 3.87 seconds -- 22-percent faster than the Milwaukee 0234 and 300 corded hammerdrills. When testing the runtime of the tool, the DC900KL drilled an average of 67 holes using a 2.5625-inch self-feed bit through 2x10-inch boards -- 2.6 times the number of holes drilled by the industry's leading 18-volt hammerdrill/drill/driver.
The DC900KL has the ability to complete a variety of heavy-duty applications, such as drilling in wood with self-feed bits, auger bits and hole saws, fastening lag bolts and hammerdrilling in concrete as fast or faster than leading corded drills. Combined with up to three times the runtime of 18-volt drills, the DC900KL brings new levels of productivity to any jobsite.
Dewalt's Revolutionary 36V Battery The 36-volt cordless battery platform was developed to provide professional contractors with the performance needed to complete high-powered applications that were previously only possible with corded tools. By partnering with A123 Systems -- a developer of a new generation of lithium-ion batteries developed at and exclusively licensed from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) -- Dewalt's 36V line of tools are equipped with a unique Nano-Phosphate lithium-ion design. These revolutionary batteries offers a high level of power, long run-time and durability when compared to conventional lithium technology. Paslode 900420 Cordless IMCT Framing Nailer Review

Paslode 900420 Cordless IMCT Framing Nailer

When me and my brother in law decided to build my house, I started looking for something to help us out. Neither one of us ever owned any kind of nail gun or phneumatic tools. I asked around and read the reviews on your web site. I went to LOWE's and Home Depot to get a closer look at all of the various guns. I decided to try the Paslode Impulse, so I bought one for each of us. I saved... on both by getting them from Amazon. These things are great. I even dropped one twice, once about 6' on a sidewalk. Never missed a beat. They are practically maintence free. Even though they didn't need it I cleaned them once just to make me feel good. The breakdown and cleaning was a snap. They sure made the job go faster and saved a lot of wear and tear on our arms. Not having air hoses laying all around was a big plus. I strongly recommend the Paslode Impulse. I even used the generic nails with no problems.

Ideal for light framing and remodeling projects and high-volume commercial use, the Paslode Cordless IMCT Framing Nailer is compatible with 2.0-inch to 3.25-inch full- and clipped-head nails. This handy, high-performance tool lets you avoid the hassle of compressor noise and hoses. Also, it\'s easy to handle and hold, offers consistent performance, and supplies the right amount of power for a range of uses.
Lightweight, Hose-Free Operation Minimizes Arm FatigueMeasuring 12.0 inches long and weighing just 7.3 pounds, the IMCT Framing Nailer is comfortable to handle and hold. Its 'sure grip' and well-balanced design combine with a soft trigger to reduce arm fatigue. And because you won\'t have to drag a hose with you as you work, you\'ll be able to drive nails better and longer, without undue stress on your arms, hands, and wrists.
Compact, Heavy-Duty Design Works Anywhere and EverywhereCompact enough to work in tight, hard-to-reach areas, the IMCT Framing Nailer packs a powerful punch with heavy-duty construction that can handle tough job conditions. It shoots up to 1,200 nails on a single fuel cell and up to 4,000 nails on a full battery charge, providing a cycle rate of two to three nails per second. And because it offers tool-free depth-of-drive adjustment--no wrenches required!--you can get more done in less time.
Internal Combustion Linear Motor for Robust PerformanceUnlike other power fastening tools, the IMCT Framing Nailer is powered by an internal combustion linear motor. In simpler terms, the nailer owes its robust performance to its motor, which is similar to an automobile's motor. Additionally, the tool ignites a fuel and air mixture to produce the energy needed to drive the motor, and ultimately, the fastener.
Patented Battery System for Consistency and ReliabilityAnother unique feature of this nailer is that it uses a patented system that requires both a fuel cell and a rechargeable battery (the fuel cell is not included). This translates to optimum consistency and reliability, whether you\'re building a deck, working with wall sheathing, or repairing a roof. It also means the IMCT Framing Nailer is entirely self-contained. The tool carries its own fuel supply and battery--along with a supply of fasteners--making it easy to bring with you from site to site.
Lockout Feature to Prevent Blank Firing and Wood DamageThe IMCT Framing Nailer boasts a lockout feature to prevent needless blank cycling, which can waste fuel and damage both the wood you\'re working with and the nailer's components. This feature works by ensuring that five nails will be left in the magazine when the follower reaches the lockout area. Additionally, the tool will not operate when its nail supply has less than six nails.
High-Visibility Magazine and Belt Hanger for ConvenienceThe IMCT Framing Nailer is designed to be exceptionally user friendly, with features that help keep your job running smoothly. First, the load magazine is highly visible, so it helps prevent you from running out of nails in the middle of a project. There\'s also a convenient dual-position belt hanger, so you don't have to lay the nailer on the ground or on top of a ladder, nor do you have to wedge it among rafters. And if you can't remember where you last placed your nailer, its bright orange color makes it easy to spot.
About the Battery Charging SystemThe IMCT Framing Nailer comes with a rechargeable battery and its own charging system. This charging system is the only one that will work with Paslode batteries (both round and oval). When your tool arrives, you\'ll first need to charge the battery. Batteries will generally take five minutes to two hours to recharge, depending on the amount of discharge within the battery.
Dimensions and Warranty InformationThe IMCT Framing Nailer has a height of 14.5 inches and weighs 7.3 pounds. It comes with a one-year limited warranty on all parts, a five-year warranty on all molded nylon parts, and a 90-day limited warranty on the bumper, driver blades, O-rings, and seal rings.
What's in the BoxNailer, 6.0-volt battery, charger, belt hanger, rugged plastic carrying case, safety goggles, manual, and 5/32-inch hex wrench.

Milwaukee 0724-24 28-Volt V28 Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Cordless Hammer Drill/Driver Kit Review

Milwaukee 0724-24 28-Volt V28 Lithium-Ion 1/2-Inch Cordless Hammer Drill/Driver Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used Milwaukee's 18v drill for years (I own two of them) and they've never failed me. By far, the best cordless drill available... until now. When Milwaukee came out with their V28 line, I was intrigued, but I didn't need a new drill. Besides, the 18v drill I had worked fine, I didn't think it was necessary to upgrade (especially for the price). When it came time to buying a hammer drill, I looked again at the V28 hammer-drill and decided to buy one, figuring it would at least allow me to combine two tools into one and save the room in my car. I ended up getting a LOT more then I expected.
First, the belt clip is amazing. I didn't think twice about it when I read the drill's description, since I have a holster that works fine. The holster's now in the garbage as the belt clip is absolutely ingenious. Now I can easy attach the drill to my belt without looking and it's fully secure. With one hand I can push down on the latch and detach the drill for use... a marvelous idea. Best thing about it is I can also use it with my V28 flashlight when I need to.
Another thing I really like about this new drill is the bit holder... I always liked the idea of DeWalt's drill's holding the single bits, but Milwaukee provides a place for two. However, the only downside to this is if you use the drill in the hammer-drill setting, the bits tend to slide out after prolonged use.
Then there's the power... one of my first uses was drilling a 1" hole at an angle through two old 1x10 joists and a 2x4 in order to run a wire. I've done it several times with my old 18v, but I always end up having to reverse back a bit then start again to get a bit of momentum. If I can, I normally leave the job up to a corded drill to make things nice a quick. Not anymore... the V28 ripped right through the wood without the slightest problem. The power difference between the 18v and the V28 is shocking... you'd think you were using a corded drill.
The hammer-drill function was another big plus for me... I used this drill side by side with another corded Milwaukee hammer drill to drill numerous holes into a concrete foundation. The cordless worked just as well as the corded... no difference at all, except I wasn't lugging around a cord.
Lastly, there's the longevity of the charges... usually I'll go through at least one full battery and charge it on the site. Again, not anymore. I rarely need to use the second battery during a single day.
If I could, I'd give it six-stars. This thing is just incredible.

Sporting the longest running 28-volt hammer drill on the market, Milwaukee’s V28 lithium-ion cordless kit is always charged up for the beefiest drilling and driving applications. The tool switches easily between drill, drive, and hammer modes for less downtime and smoother transitions between tasks. This ½-inch hammer drill cranks out a whopping 600 inch-pounds of torque for drilling large holes and driving heavy bolts for deck support, playground equipment, and post-and-beam construction. The two variable speeds do it fast, too, spinning along at 0-600 or 0-1800 rpm’s for more productivity.
Powering the V28 is Milwaukee’s revolutionary 28-Volt Lithium-Ion battery pack. The 28-volt battery pack weighs less than an 18-volt NiCad pack yet delivers twice the runtime. And, a patented battery design lets you insert the battery in the reverse position for optimal balance when working overhead or in hard-to-reach areas.
The V28 hammer-drill comes standard with a ½-inch all-metal, single-sleeve, ratcheting chuck with carbide jaws that keep bits from falling out or slipping. A comfortable non-slip, soft-grip handle reduces vibration and fatigue. For easy transport and access, Milwaukee’s patented Clip-Lok system attaches the tool securely to the operator's belt or tool bag and easily releases with one hand-a boon for ladder work where there’s is nowhere safe to rest the tool. Milwaukee 0928-29 28-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit Review

Milwaukee 0928-29 28-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using this tool kit at least once a week for the past 2 months or so and I can definitely say that they perform as expected. I'm not sure that the lower weight or extended run time is really the best reason to upgrade from your current cordless tools given the price of this kit. However I didn't own any other cordless tools, so purchasing this slightly more expensive set was worth the money. The sawzall and drill are definitely the two tools that I use the most and they have held up wonderfully. The drill (set to hammer) eats through concrete surprisingly fast.
I would have given this set 5 stars, except for the following:
1. The batteries are much more expensive than other sets (a reason contractors may be wary of upgrading their existing job tools to these)
2. The flashlight isn't all that bright, especially compared to LED lights that are out now. It's also bulky with the battery and lacks a "lantern" ability to illuminate 360?.
3. The kit comes with one screwdriver tip, but holds two. Why not just throw in an extra $2 tip?
4. The current selection of 28V tools is not very large, so if you are looking for a variety of tools that use interchangable batteries, this may not be the kit for you.
The things I like about the set:
1. You get three high quality tools (sawzall, circular saw, drill), a charger, two batteries and a tool bag to carry them all in. In addition you get the clip lock system and the flashlight, a circular saw blade, 2 sawzall blades and a screwdriver bit.
2. The battery life is exceptional.
3. The power actually lasts as Milwaukee claims, high power through the whole battery right until the end.
4. The batteries are definitely lighter and easier to use for extended periods of time.

Milwaukee Tools is world-renowned for producing powerful, heavy-duty tools for contractors, mechanics and demanding professionals in every trade. That very same devotion to power, performance and innovation was applied when Milwaukee created the 0928-29 V28 Four-Piece Combo Kit. Included are a hammer-drill/driver, circular saw, reciprocating saw, and work light. All four tools are powered by a high-performance 28-volt lithium-ion battery that weighs less than an 18-volt Ni-Cad, yet delivers twice the run time. The battery has a handy "fuel gauge" that shows how much power remains.
The hammer-drill/driver has a 1/2-inch keyless chuck and a two-speed, variable-speed motor (zero to 600 rpm, and zero to 1,800 rpm) that delivers a pumped-up 600 in./lbs. of torque. The chuck is equipped with carbide jaws that virtually eliminate bit slippage. There’s no hole too large to drill, or screw too big to drive for this portable powerhouse. And when it’s switched to the hammer mode, this tool will quickly bore through the hardest concrete, brick or stone.
The 6-1/2-inch circular saw is arguably the most powerful cordless saw on the market. According to Milwaukee, this saw can crosscut more than 300 pine 2 by 4s on a single charge. It’s equipped with a high-speed 4,200-rpm motor that chews through wood like a corded saw.
The cordless Sawzall recip saw is an ideal tool for remodelers, plumbers, and electricians. When fitted with the appropriate blade, it’ll cut practically any building material, including nail-embedded wood, metal ducts, plastic pipe, steel rods and roof shingles. Its two-speed, variable-speed motor (zero to 2,000, and zero to 3,000 strokes per minute) lets you choose the optimum cutting speed for the material. The saw has an aggressive 1-1/8-inch stroke length, and is equipped with a tool-free blade clamp and keyless adjustable shoe. The work light comes in handy when working in dark spaces. It has a super-bright xenon bulb that runs over five hours on a single charge.
All four pieces come with the patented Clip-Lok System, which allows you to securely hook the tool onto your belt or tool pouch. Besides the four tools, the 0928-29 combo kit also includes two 28-volt lithium-ion batteries, a one-hour charger, saw blades and screwdriver tips, and an oversized canvas storage bag. -- Joseph Truini

I purchased the Milwaukee 18 volt lithium 1/2" hammer drill kit and could not be happier. I had read excellent reviews about this item and they were all accurate. This thing is powerful and the batteries seem to stay charged forever. It's heavier than some cordless drills, but then it's so much more powerful. It has a metal chuck ( not plastic like the competition ) and the chuck jaws are carbide which helps grip the bit. I like it so much I bought a second drill body only to compliment the kit. I was never a fan of cordless tools, but Milwaukee has changed all that.

I have bought this saw based on the review on this blog but have not tested it as yet doing real work. I intend to use it for cutting bamboo and other woody material while volunteering at my local botanical garden.
I can't compare the cutting speed of this saw compared to a saw that runs at 3000 or more but wouldn't this be related to the type of blade you install?
With a 10 year warranty wouldn' t this saw make a good professional saw? Does anyone know if it would be covered if used by a professional?
I will try to update this after I try it out but would be interested in hearing others experience with it.
Thanks
