JET 708100 JWTS-10 10-Inch WorkShop Table Saw Review

This unit has a very substantial cast iron central section with a powerful and quiet motor and belt drive system and smoothly operating elevate and angle controls. It is virtually vibration free, despite what I consider a somewhat under-reinforced leg assembly with two wheels and two adjustable pads. The wheels seem like an afterthought - the legs twist and shimmy if one really tries to move the saw around. The weight of the saw however seems enough to press everything in place when in position so that there is no vibration. One can take the wheels off, making it very sturdy and nonmobile, or then set the leg assembly on a good aftermarket rolling stand.
The stamped metal extensions felt a little flimsy, especially in comparison to the hefty central section, but they firm up when assembly is integrated with the front and rear rails. Assembly instructions start out detailed but actually miss or misstate a few things - luckily one can figure most of it out. Aligning the rail sections and extensions takes some finesse, but everything does align quite well. The fence and miter are quite good, but not top of the line (as expected in this price range). The saw arbor assembly came perfectly aligned. I replaced the stock blade with a Freud blade in the course of the initial assembly (offered by Amazon with the purchase.) Cutting 2" thick oak was smooth and precise. Overall, an excellent value. I would give it 4 and 1/2 stars.

This JET Tablesaw features a powerful 1-1/2HP motor with a poly-V drive belt transfer system to more efficiently power the saw blade. With a unique trunnion design, the motor is completely within the tablesaw cabinet rather than hanging out the backside like on competitive units. The steel extension tables give you a much larger working surface to help support the project while the double locking fence and deluxe miter gauge allow for precision cuts on any project. The unit has a left tilting blade for more controlled bevel cutting and offers a maximum 3-1/8" depth of cut at 90 degrees.

As a home-business owner, I have some pretty big concerns in my budget and do my research for tools. I owned a $100 tablesaw I bought from the hardware store, and have had problems with the blades / spindle not cutting accurately. After going to all the hardware stores in the area, I found the problem was the same with all saws in the class. The direct-drive saws present issues keeping the blades rigid. This tablesaw from Jet was the only one with a belt-drive, that took the tension off the motor spindle allowing it to remain rigid and reduce viabration. It is also supported by all the accessories that Jet sells that are compatible with it. For the price, in its class - it is the best, simply because it uses the v-belt design on the spindle.

I was in the market for a cabinet saw, so I read up on cabinetsaws in magazines and discussion boards. That helped me narrow it downto 3. The Jet, Delta, and Powermatic. I also knew I wanted to get a left tilt saw because I see them as a little safer than the right tilts (when it comes to pushing stock against the fence on the right hand side).
All the literature I read said good things about all 3 saws. Some people preferred on over the other, but in all the reviews I read, the one thing that everyone said was the the Jet was the best value, the only thing it didn't have in it's favor was the reputation of Delta and Powermatic (some people may over look the Jet because it's not made in the US, but from what I've read it's just as solid as and has a good design). All things being equal, Jet got my money because of the price, which allows me to buy some other things for my shop and something nice for the boss who agreed to let me buy it.
Another selling point was the fact that Jet recently bought Powermatic, so the company plans on being around for a while. Hope this helps. happy woodworking.

It was long-long search for table saw that is sort of compromise. I have spent about one year and read more than 200 pages of reviews on different hybrid and cabinet table saws; returned two table saws; spoke to many company representatives, tried 5 table saws and finally selected this saw.
Well. I will claim that this is a best table saw for non-professionals. Here is why:
1.It is tuned by a factory to perfection: blade totally parallel to miter tracks, zero arbor run-out (about 0.001" run-out with ridge carbide blade); totally flat surface; perfectly calibrated blade for 90 and 45 degree
2.It is lightweight and no vibration. Yes, it is light weight and beautifully balanced to have no vibration. I really believe that well balanced light weight saw is superior to bulky low-tech heavy saw.
3.It is very quite. No zing during cutting.
4.They somehow made a motor that is listed as 1-3/4Hp but cuts like 3 Hp (I run table saw on 220V). I just slide 8/4 hard maple through blade (1/8"-thick blade!) with speed 8 ft for about 22 sec.
5.Fence the best there is. Easy to adjust. As sturdy as Bessy, glides along rails like on ice and have grooves on the top for jigs.
6.Guard (my one is a Shark Guard made by Lee Styron) is easy to remove/install.
7.Price $650. Yes, this was price in March for 30" rail version with cast iron wings.
Cons? Yes, there is one con: very annoying "dust collection hood" with screws. I have a door with hinges now.
Runners up to this saw are Powermatic 2000 and Steel City Hybrid.
Worse table saw tried are Delta and Grizzly hybrids.

I've had this saw a couple months now and I'm thoroughly pleased with it. Given the price tag, my expectations were very high and for the most part it didn't disappoint. I can tell someone really spent some time thinking about how to make a table saw better.
Everything was done right except the fence. Do get me wrong, it's a solid fence but I had two issues. First, the faces were wavy and not parallel. Lining up the fence to the miter slot was impossible. Once I got the left side as close as I could, then the right side was way off. Solution: I ripped off the cheap plywood faces and made my own out of solid wood. They are less flexible and can be shimmed out perfectly straight. In some places it took the width of 3 or 4 paying cards to make it right. With the shims it is also possible to get the right and left sides parallel to each other in case you make cuts on both sides of the blade. I do wish they had used something other than self taping screws to attach the fence. I may eventually tap threads into the fence to hold the faces.
The other issue with the fence was the cursors. They were so far off the rail, accurate readings were impossible because of the parallax. Also, since they were mounted on top of the fence they couldn't be lowered closer to the rail with a couple of simple washers. I had to make my own cursors to solve the problem.
Overall, I love the saw, and the problems I encountered I was able to fix myself. Actually, I had no choice but to fix them myself. Nothing about the fence was defective--the issues were design related. I wish someone could have put some time into redesigning the fence like they did the saw. Especially considering how much this saw costs.
There is also something I'm curious about. I bought the 3hp version 36-L352. However, after looking at the label on the motor, it's clearly says it is 5hp. Has anyone else seen this "problem?" I wonder if Delta just ran out of 3hp motors and used the 5hp instead.

Improved Table-Top Geometry for More Surface Area StabilizationTo help increase versatility, the 36-L352 has improved table-top geometry, which provides more surface area to stabilize the material being cut, so you'll enjoy smoothness and ease of use.
Sturdy Cast-Iron Base and Easy-Access On/Off Switch for Easy OperationFor stability and solid footing, the cabinet consists of a large, sturdy cast-iron base. User-Friendly FeaturesThe largest blade opening in its class makes fine tuning your riving knife and blade changes easier than ever without injury to the knuckles, while the push-button arbor lock makes the blade changing process simple and natural with the use of only one wrench.
Convenient Dust Extraction for Improved VisibilityTo keep your workplace cleaner and healthier, the 36-L352 offers the convenience of bi-level dust extraction that uses only one collector hose coupled with a sloping bottom cabinet used to navigate dust. The new, closed-bevel gauge provides a sealed interior. This combination results in a much higher level of dust collection for improved visibility while you work.
Smart Storage for Quick Access and OrganizationTo keep all your tools and accessories easily accessible, the 36-L352 features Smart Storage drawer with room for five saw blades, two riving knives, an arbor nut flange, and the entire rise-and-fall split guard assembly. There is also adequate room for a push stick, arbor wrench with extra-long handle, and standard throat plate.
Tool-Free Split Guard for True Rise-and-Fall Riving KnifeA tool-free split-guard design allows a true rise-and fall riving knife by using a lever on the front of the saw or inside the throat plate. You can then add the anti-kickback paws and guard to the riving knife without tools.
Biesemeyer Fence SystemFinally, a Biesemeyer fence system provides hairline pointer and built-in tape, allowing you to make precision setups, cut after cut. Nine-ply fence faces like this one have tight, professional grade tolerances, and the fence can be locked with a re-designed cam front-lock lever that doesn't dig into the rail.

JET 708315LSB JBTS-10LS-2 15 Amp Benchtop 10-Inch Table Saw with Fixed Stand and Storage Shelf Review

JET 708315LSB JBTS-10LS-2 15 Amp Benchtop 10-Inch Table Saw with Fixed Stand and Storage Shelf
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The LSB version includes the stand w/ shelf, dust shroud, rear extension, and both left and right side extensions. With the left and right extensions, you get a whopping 39" wide by 18" deep table that can extend to 55" wide.
Pros:
The main feature that makes this saw truly standout is the belt drive system. Other portable table saws - even some double the price - use noisy direct-drive or geared motors that are little more than upside-down circular saws.
Saw startup is very smooth, and the table has virtually no vibration while running. The blade arbor uses large sealed ball bearings and has no measurable lateral movement (run out).
(Update: after several months of regular use, I used a dial indicator to measure the run out. Total run out was .002" one inch in from the cutting tips. Impressive! Now I know why my ripped edges are so smooth.)
The construction quality overall is very good to excellent. It feels solid, yet at around 75 lbs, I can pick it up and move it by myself. The blade tilt rack and pinion gears are metal. Blade height adjustment is smooth at 6 turns per inch. It has built-in cord and accessory storage.
(Update: like many other saws, there isn't a blade height lock, so like another reviewer mentioned, I had to bungee my height crank handle when using a stack dado. Good tip!)
The included stand legs were easy to assemble, but do reduce the overall "portability" of the saw since they are not a "quick attach" design. The dust shroud can connect to both 2 ½" shop vac and 4" dust collector hoses.
It has a 5-year warranty and JET has fantastic customer service.
Cons:
The arbor pulley limits the cutting height to 3". If you need to rip 4x dimensional lumber, this is the wrong saw, but then again, any saw under $500 is probably ill-suited for that.
The single rail fence is OK, but not amazing. Out-of-the-box, my fence would "pull" off-square 1/16" front-to-back when clamped. But once I adjusted it, it clamps down square. (Update: I saw other reviewers struggle with the fence. I was able to figure out how to adjust it based on experience w/ other saws, but the instruction manual lacks the info. If you can't get it adjusted square and tight, call JET tech support.)
The miter slots are not standard 3/4" but are 5/8" T-slots. In order to use a Rockler feather board, I have to use T-bolts ("toilet bolts") for the hold-down screws instead of the standard attachment bars.
The miter gauge is terrible w/o some tweaking. The slider bar is so undersized it can move around in the slot a few degrees of play. I built it up with some UHMW Poly glide tape to eliminate the slop. The narrow T-slots limit your replacement choices.
The blade guard is hard to adjust. It took me several attempts. Of course, once it's adjusted, you shouldn't need to mess with it until you change blades.
In Summary (updated):
This is a pretty darn good saw for the price. Sure, it could be improved, but it blows away all other saws in its price range mainly due to the incredible belt drive design. I'm giving it 4 stars because the miter gauge is such poor quality and the slots aren't standard to allow for an easy upgrade. I noticed other people taking off 2-3 stars for flaws that are common in every saw under 300 bucks. Get real people; a high quality dual-rail fence system alone costs more than this saw does. To be portable, the table top needs to be aluminum, and no aluminum top will every be perfectly flat over a range of temperatures. This one is cast then machined, and is about as good as an aluminum table gets. The bottom line is, this saw provides the best quality cut for under 300 bucks, and is fairly quiet and portable. If you need help (with the fence or whatever), JET's tech support is very helpful. And if something is damaged upon arrival, they send you the replacement parts w/o any hassle. A lot of other companies will make you send the whole saw back in that situation. Having dealt with several of the big name brands, I can tell you that JET customer support is far and away the best. And their warranty is the best: 5 years, and no hassles. If you buy JET from Amazon, your saw is automatically registered in JET's support database so you never need to send proof of purchase or any of the ususal nonsense. If you have a problem, just call. For example, I had trouble adjusting the 45 degree stop per the manual - the allen bolt wouldn't turn and I didn't want to strip the head. A quick call to JET solved the problem (the manual neglects to tell you that you might need to loosen the lock nuts on the underside of the table on the stop bolts).
Like I said, this saw isn't perfect, but it's the best in it's price class (even better if you wait for Amazon's free shipping on tools specials). If you want "better", you'll need to spend more - a lot more. If you only need "semi-portability", you should look at the JET 708100. Another fairly new JET saw that's also best for it's price.
