(More customer reviews)First off, it's really 2800-3000 watts continuous. Jaingdong model JD3000. It uses a Jaingdong JF200 6.5 hp motor which is an excellent clone of the Honda OHV engine (licensed from Honda). It is smooth, quiet, and best of all pretty fuel efficient for a gasoline powered generator. The generator is brushless and therefore really has nothing to wear out other than bearings.
That's the good stuff...
Unfortunately, the Chinese pedigree does show in a few places. The fuel gauge never worked on mine. The electrical components (circuit breaker, meter, etc) seem kind of crude, but have held up OK in use so far.
I've owned this generator for almost two years now and it probably has about 40 hours of runtime. It had no trouble keeping us going during several power outages, the longest of which was about 30 hours. It ran an oil furnace, refrigerator, TV/DVD Player, and a few lights with no problem. The output voltage and frequency does not sag under load. I feel it is sized just about right for the load we place on it. A bigger generator would simply use more fuel.
One tip that makes the generator much easier to start. Always turn off the fuel petcock and remove the drain plug from the carburetor to drain out the old fuel. Replace plug and turn fuel petcock back on. Wait 30 seconds, flip on the choke, and it will start easily, even when it's quite cold outside. Fresh gas does help a lot too.
Overall, I think this is the best emergency generator value on the market. I paid $299 from Homier, and thought that was an outstanding price. I see they have it on sale for $219 right now. It's an outright steal for that price!
No matter what brand of generator you buy, if you have it shipped via UPS, or whatever, there is a chance it will have been handled very poorly. Shipping companies folks don't like handling heavy boxes and they tend to slam them around, roll them off the end of loading docks, etc. The bottom of the support frame was bent on mine, but was easily straightened. I would suggest planning to be at home when the generator is delivered, and if at all possible open the box before the driver leaves to document any possible damage.

Whirlpool : WED9300VU Dryer Review

The primary concern is that the dryer died in six months, but here is the full story and an example of how Whirlpool, their service contractors and staff operate (search the web for A & E (Whirlpools service company) to hear more horror stories):
A &E (owned by Sears/Whirlpool) are a complete disaster. We're on week four for our service request on a new Whirlpool Duet dryer. The short story is A&E came in to fix one thing on our dryer and blew out our Heating Element and that part is six weeks away according to A&E. So between October 1st and Mid December (2.5 months) we will be without a Dryer. (Keep this story in mind when Whirlpool asks you if you want to extend your Warranty for $100+ a year...their service stinks and it's not worth the frustration).
End Result is still to come..but we got tired of the run around and ordered the parts from Sears Direct (which is where A & E Sears gets their parts) and It should be here tomorrow not December. There is a big difference between October 30th and December 15th when you're waiting for a part to fix your Dryer.

Full Story: Our Dryer broke with an F 25 Thermister error and it took a week to get A & E Service (Sears and Whirlpool) to our house between 8am and 12pm (arriving at 3:30pm). They told us we needed X, Y, Z parts..The parts took a week to arrive and they were shipped from a place that was only 20 miles away (but we're not allowed to pick them up and they won't pick them up for us either). Then another week for them to comeback to fix the machine (week 3). In week three they finally showed up at 3:00pm (for a 8am-12pm window) and a different technician said "These are all the wrong parts. The person that ordered these didn't know what he was doing."
This guy said that all that was broken was a safety switch and that he could permanently bypass the switch so we never have the problem again. I asked if it was safe to bypass this and he said that as long as I keep an eye on the dryer and make sure it doesn't get too hot it would be fine. I expressed my desire to keep my house from burning down and would prefer he just fix the part. After he tried to convince (bully) me for a few minutes, he finally gave up and said he could fix it a different way and replaced our Thermal Fuse. I now know that this was a temporary fix for him to get out the door.
The Dryer worked for two loads and then died again...A & E came back a week later..Yet again a different guy and he said "the previous guy didn't ground your machine properly and blew out your Heating Element". This heating element is out of stock and won't be available until mid-December.
HERE IS THE FUN PART: After complaining to A&E (owned by SEARS) for breaking everything..we calmed down and did some research. I figured out who they order parts from SEARS Parts and SEARS Parts Direct (.com). I called SEARS and they can ship the part the same day and even overnight it to us, but A&E will only talk to FSP Appliance Parts (also owned by SEARS) and A & E says they don't have a phone number for FSP Parts. So I found the address for FSP and did some web research..figured out that the number for FSP Parts (AKA Sears Roebuck Parts Dept.) in Glen Burnie, MD and called them...The part can be shipped from Texas and arrive in 7-10 days. Still a long time, but much better than A & E six weeks + one week to get a techinician to come.
End Result is still to come..but we got tired of the run around and ordered the parts from Sears Direct..It should be here tomorrow. There is a big difference between October 30th and December 15th when you're waiting for a part to fix your Dryer.

Jet 708015 JSSG-10 Slow Speed Wet Sharpener Review

(More customer reviews)I took a lot of time comparing the Tormek and the Jet (had both at Woodcraft). A web site found with a Google search did a terrific job in comparing both and gave the nod to Jet. I ordered the Jet which came without the base and cover (Amazon quickly sent me a new unit). Here's my assement:
Cons:
1) Putting it to use I found the support arm was not true with the stone and sharpend chisels with an angled face. I measured the support arm and found it to be a little more than 1 degree off square. I stuck it in my bench vise and gave it a couple of pulls and it then measured 90 degrees and the chisel faces then ground square. I later bought a Tormek support arm for the leather honing side and found it to be a true 90 degrees. It is, however, a bit larger in diameter than the Jet arm requiring any Jet jig used to be slightly enlarged.
2) The instruction book is really little more than a parts list so I bought the Tormek book. Since the two machines are essentially equal and the sharpening jigs are interchangeable that problem was solved cheaply.
3) I wanted to be able to sharpen my jointer and planer knives, but Jet does not make this jig, but Tormek does.
4) Tormek now has a diamond truing jig that uses a screw to move the diamond across the wheel whereas Jet's jig is just moved by hand.
5) One of my only Jet jigs (the one that came with it) had plastic bushings that soon started slipping out of the jig allowing whatever was attached to crash on the wheel. I'm also into metal work so I turned a new bushing out of brass with a good tight fit. It may be possible to use "Goop" or some other such glue to firmly attach the bushings, but I enjoyed making them from brass. This problem may occur on other Jet jigs, but I have bought all tormek jigs.
Pros:
1) The Jet has a much better water capturing system than the Tormek which means less mess to cleanup when finished.
2) The speed control is an advantage when a fair amount of material needs to be removed. It also makes honing on the leather wheel faster.
3) When I did receive the new unit from Amazon to replace the missing base and cover, I must say the added height and storage were a real advantage. Note worthy is the fact that the support arm in the new unit was off square by the same amount as the first one received.
I found no problems with the supplied Jet jigs(note item 5 under cons) and have since bought several Tormek jigs and find them to be of equal quality.
My recommendation is to buy the Jet; use a carpenter square to true-up the support arm; buy the Tormek instruction book; and save about $85 while getting the free base and cover.
I have sharpened everything in the house and shop and couldn't be happier. My wife is so impressed with the paper thin slices of tomato she can make that she's as happy with it as I am. I bought the long knife jig and find it also does short knives while the short knife jig doesn't do long knives.
I would give the Jet 5 stars if the support arm came properly squared. The Tormex support arm does not have this problem but is slightly larger in diameter than the Jet, so Jet bushings will have to enlarged.
