Our old fridge died and gave us the impetus for a kitchen remodel. So in a pinch and without a fridge I bought the KFUS27CXMS sight unseen. I was hesitant given the reviews about noise and doors closing, but suffice to say I haven't had issue with either.
It's not whisper quiet, but my bedroom is right behind the wall where it is installed (1960s house, no internal insulation) and I can't hear the fridge at all from there. In the kitchen when the compressor comes on you can hear it, but it's no where near as bad as I had expected from reading the reviews. It's quieter than my old Kenmore it replaced so for me the noise is a non-issue.
The door works fine on mine as well. They are easy to close and require no additional effort. I can give them a little push and let them swing closed on their own momentum, no need for a second push to make sure they are secure.
I will report back on the ice maker after I few more months of service and update my review if I find issue there.

KitchenAid Architect Series II : KUDH03DTSS Fully Integrated Double Drawer Dishwasher Stainless St. Review

I have had this dishwasher over a year now and have not had any problems with it. While this unit is a little more expensive then a conventionally sized unit that we were also considering, we opted for this unit because we have a small family and it would take us several days to fill up and run a full size dishwasher. With the dish drawer, we can usually run a load each night.

Our new KitchenAid dishwasher was not cleaning dishes about 4 months after we purchased it. The repairman has been out three times to replace the soap dispenser, within the 2 months since the first outage, but in examining the design it appears that the soap dispenser is too large for the unit and has difficulty opening because of the arrangement of shelves inside. We called Kitchen Aid and they declined to provide any solution or replacement model. They are only willing to pay for repeated replacement of the soap dispenser which is inconvenient and time consuming for us. Don't buy this product and my advice is to beware of any Kitchenaid products based on the fact that they are unwilling to stand behind them and there are clear design issues with this model.

A great cooktop. I installed it myself and it was not difficult to do. Just have the right wrench. The cooktop looks great and performs wonderfully. So much easier to clean than the one that came with the home by the builder. A great upgrade at a very reasonable price for the quality.

We purchased this speed oven for our new kitchen. It worked 3 times and then stopped. Turns out there was a problem w/ the hinge on the door and somehow it blew the fuse. I read about this common problem after we purchased the speed oven. Now we have to buy extended warranty since I read this is a recurring problem.
Do not buy.

KitchenAid Architect Series II : KFGU766VSS 36 Gas Cooktop with 5 Sealed Burners Review

KitchenAid Architect Series II : KFGU766VSS 36 Gas Cooktop with 5 Sealed Burners
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We needed to replace a 15 year old modular Kitchenaid cooktop with an itme that had about the same size cutout. We wanted a stainless steel deck and at least one high-output burner plus a simmer burner. The KitchenAid seemed to fit the bill the best. Advantages include a good layout with knobs in front with plenty of room btween the burners so that you can easily put a huge (e.g. 14") frypan on the center 20,000 BTU burner with room to spare. The burners themselves look like they are easy to clean and the ignition seems stable with the gas not flowing until there is a spark. The two front burners are plenty powerful for 12" pans. There is a lockout feature but it seems like a smart 5 year old could defeat it. The stainless surface has a clear coat which I hope is durable. We clean it with spray cleaner only and it looks great and hope for the best. The center burner is probably powerful enough for a wok if you have an adaptor. One minor annoyance is that they do not recommend copper or aluminum bottom pans as this mars the cast iron grates.
In this range, the only other cooktop that made sense was the Miele. Wolf and Viking seemed pretty standard and Gaggenau, though nice looking, was almost three times the price for a marginal performance increase.

KitchenAid Architect Series II : KFGS306VSS 30 Gas Cooktop with 5 Sealed Burners - Stainless Steel

Background you can skip
We purchased our current home about 2 years ago and slowly started replacing the somewhat dated or low-quality appliances that had been left behind for us. Most of it was Frigidaire or Kenmore. Nothing wrong with that, but we wanted to get a better fridge, microwave hood, dishwasher and cooktop. This review, naturally, is about the cooktop only. The other items ware reviewed elsehwere on Amazon.
What were we looking for?
ONE - Well, first of all, we wanted HEAT: we are very much into Asian food and cook mostly in our Wok(s) (see other reviews as well!). This requires high BTU output.
TWO - We wanted an aesthetic stainless steel look, a little more like the professional Bertazzoni or Viking type cooktops.
THREE - Quality. We wanted heavy cast iron grates that would withstand heavy daily use.
FOUR - Space. We needed sufficient space around the wok to be able to cook properly on the high heat burner if using a larger wok (16" or so).
FIVE - Ergonomics. The control knobs needed to be in the front due awkward positioning in the kitchen, leaving little room on the right hand side towards the back to reach or see the knobs properly.
SIX - Finally, we needed ALL OF THE ABOVE to be squeezed into a 30" cooktop.
About this item - KFGS306VSS
After much research we decided that the KitchenAid Architect II series was the one to get. It featured 5 burners of whuch the middle burner is a 15,000 BTU burner (18,000 BTU on 36" version) whereas most cooktops in this pricerange top out at 4 burners and 12,500 BTU max.
It has the control knobs on the front and is a very industrial looking design.
The grates are heavy cast orin and you get 3 of them. All in all, this one delivered on all fronts in the specifications that we set out.
Upon receipt of the item, we found that the 1st rule of construction (closely related to Murphy's Law)applied to us as well: if something can go wrong or get complicated it will.
And it did. The CUT-OUT dimensions of this cooktop did not fit the existing (and what we believed to be standard dimensions) in our countertop. This KitchenAid requires the following:
Depth, Opening: 20 in.
Width, Opening: 29 in.
Our existing cutout was 28.5" by 19.5". Ofcourse this represented a horrendous problem in installation as we had to get the coutertop opening cut out further.
Anyways: some masking tape, a pneumatic sabre saw (14.99$) and some saws and that was solved as well.
Pros:
0 - Lots of heat from 15,000 BTU burner
0 - Well positioned (center) dual tier wok burner
0 - Full stainless look, i.e. everything except grates is stainless
0 - 5 burners, instead of the common 4 on a 30" form factor
0 - 3 cast iron grates that allow for sliding pots across the surface
Cons:
0 - Knobs are plasticized, i.e. they can melt if you put a hot pan on them
0 - No wok ring with the set, not cool as it would have been perfect with center burner and cheaper brands do include those
0 - Slightly odd form factor for cutout. Not a real problem but just a 'BE AWARE' when you have an existing kitchen cutout.
Conclusion
We are extremely pleased with this cooktop given all the features. What we did not like were the plastic knobs: they look great but I feel they could have included something better. I assume it is a heat resistant laminate/composite so I am not sure about the melting but I think it should have been solid metal. We reduced 1 star for that. The wok ring would have made this back to 5 stars, but we can't fault KitchenAid for that as only the mor expensive cooktops seems to get those included. A definite buy if have the same requirements as we put in the opening paragraph.

I've chandged my old cooktop with this one, it was the biggest mistake in my life. Such a problem. I'm not a messy person but it is imposible to keep it clean. I got a lot of cleaning products from Miele but still nothing works. My suggestion never ever buy this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The responsiveness afforded by a Miele gas cooktop is only matched by the product's performance. Equipped with at least one super burner, each new unit has a significant heat output. The super burner is conveniently located in the front of the cooktop, making wok stir-fry, pan sauteing or just big pot cooking practical and safe. Cooking with gas is not always about the power; control is essential too. Operating at a low heat output is often as important as a high power setting, and all Miele units allow you to do that. To minimize the heat further still, a simmer plate ensures excess heat is diverted away from the pan. Miele has resolved any safety concerns if the flame is put out with its unique re-ignition system. This solution combines the speed and reliability of automatic re-ignition with the flexibility of thermocouple protection. If a flame goes out for any reason, re-ignition is initiated. Should the flame not re-light, the system shuts down the flow of gas, ensuring optimal safety. The cooktop is watching out for itself, giving you one less thing to worry about. Miele's new collection of gas cooking surfaces represents powerful performance with a flexible design that allows you to choose a cooktop with the right look for your kitchen environment; hexa or contemporary linear design.
