(More customer reviews)I ordered this twice. The first time UPS told me they received it damaged and I never saw it. I ordered it again and it arrived. When my husband and I tilted it to remove the box, the entire bottom was in pieces. And no wonder... there wasn't a center bottom to the box. The styrofoam inside around the chest was so useless that when we opened the top, there were various places on the chest lid that had big indentations. This is my first rating after years of loyalty to products bought on Amazon, and I can't remember who the seller was, but I had to mention how much of a disaster this packaging was. I would not recommend this seller. I went to Sears to buy it when they were having a sale, and it was cheaper than this one was. And a little elbow grease on my part was worth knowing I was getting an intact freezer.

With a 7-1/5-cubic-foot capacity, this manual-defrost chest freezer provides additional storage space for extra groceries. The unit comes equipped with adjustable temperature control, a power-on light, and a top-lifting door with a built-in handle for ease of use. The Imer Minuteman is a great little mixer. I've owned mine for about 4 years, and I've mixed a couple hundred batches of concrete, lime plaster, and mortars in mine, from soupy to very thick, big gravel to none. It has worked great. It's truly portable: it breaks down easily into 3 parts: wheel and tripod assembly; mixing container; motor assembly. Most of the time I leave the motor and container assembly together. It cleans very easily. I've stored it outside most of the time, often in the rain, without any cover. Keeps on going. The bearings seem fine; I opened them once figuring that I should re-grease or change the oil; no need, the oil was still clear after a couple years. I haven't had any problems with rust or corrosion, either.
It's still hard work: you need to lift the bags up to the opening, and you have to be careful when you pour out, but it beats all heck out of mixing in trays or bags.
And if you have more than a few batches, it sure beats the heck out of renting a mixer. Most rental mixers get beat up fast; their engines and bearings are failing; they don't mix very well if the blades are glopped up with rock-hard concrete from the prior users, and so on. And it costs time and money to lug the things around. And owning one, you have some freedom to manage your schedule: you don't have to try to finish that last section of patio in the dark in order to be done with the machine in one day and return it to the rental place.

(More customer reviews)I bought this at Lowes, it's the same as the Kobalt branded "utility mixer". I really researched it before I bought it, weighed the pros and cons versus simply purchasing the concrete direct. I finally decided it was worthwhile since I mix so many small batches of concrete, I'll leave anything over a half cubic yard to the concrete company. Some questions/comments I found while I was researching the mixer:
- someone said the plastic mixer barrel wore out after a while, so the first thing I did was TIGHTEN the bolts that hold the barrel to the motor bracket. They were a little loose and must have slipped around for the other user, eventually wearing through. I'll keep an eye on it as well.
- people wondered how many bags you can mix, I left it at ONE 80 pound bag since that's what I could safely move around with the wheel barrow. The mixer will hold a couple bags if wanted though, but it gets too heavy in the wheel barrow.
- some people worried about an electric motor near water, but the switches for the motor are sealed.
- people said it was cheaper to buy concrete direct. I called and was told $100 for a cubic yard, anything less and it's $100 delivery plus whatever the concrete costs. So I figure a half cubic yard at $150 is the cut-off.
- someone complained their concrete clumped together into little balls. Dude, add more water! You can actually hear it when you get the mix right.
I like that the wheel barrow fits right in front. My wife and I also put the mixer directly over the hole and filed it directly, it worked well but was harder to put the concrete mix in the mixer. That's when I decided one bag at a time. We mixed 26 bags this weekend and it went really well. One thing I don't like is that it is a little difficult to move around, if you hold it by the rear footing it's top heavy and topples over. Other than that it's great.

SOMMER Direct Drive Garage Door Opener 3/4 HP Review

(More customer reviews)When my old Craftsman chain-drive garage door opener refused to adjust and tore the pulley off of its motor, I searched for something better while shopping online. I found the Sommer 3/4 hp direct-drive garage door opener. I like the new efficient design with very few moving parts. I was a bit skeptical because it's new to the USA (#1 in Europe) and there weren't many reviews of the product, though most reviews were very positive. Once set up, the opener is very quiet and gentle. It is now hard to hear the garage door opening. 2 remotes are included, as well as a wall station control. An outdoor keypad is optional. Installation took a bit longer than stated. The instructions are a bit lacking. Drawings show 2 sections of the C-rail (track) with the lettered stops facing each other on either side of the junction piece of the C-rail. Nowhere does it specifically say to slide the carriage (motor) onto the C-rail between the stops. Not hard to figure out but instructions should be clear. One drawing shows the J-arm piece with the single hole closest to the motor. The very next drawing shows just the opposite. You can watch an installation video on the company's website where it says the track comes preassembled. It does not. It ships in 2 packages, which UPS delivered on 2 different days. One package contains the track, the other has the motor, hardware, and controls. A pair of sturdy right-angle brackets for hanging the track would have been a welcome addition to the installation kit instead of the flimsy flat brackets included. The skinny remote control looks like it should slide over the buttons for opening the door to avoid activating the door while in a pocket. Overall, I am satisfied with it now that it is up. We'll see how it holds up this winter when the frost causes the concrete to heave in the garage. It is reassuring to know that everything is guaranteed for life. The Sommer opener costs about $100 more than a conventional belt, chain, or screw drive opener on sale, but looks like it is built to last.
