I have one of these (or it's immediate predacessor model) for 5 years and it worked flawlessly. Then one day I was knee deep in the swamp cutting cattails just under the waterline and KABLOOEY! The cattails wrapped around the bush cutter head and the EZ Link drive cable twisted apart at the coupling. I thought it could do everything! I was disappointed. ;-))
Actually I give it 5 stars. It was saftey engineered well enough that I didn't have my arm cut off when the cutting head wrapped around the cattails and pulled me off my feet into the swamp and the cutter. The safety engine kill and brake worked like a charm.
I took the motor (which was still alright) and made a fence post auger out of it. That sucker has some torque!
Yes, I am a red-neck if you were wondering...

I am happy with the trimmer, however I did have to replace the head with a better one. The trimmer has plenty of power to do the job. I am happy with the purchase price as well as the overall performance. I would purchase another one, if needed. I recommend this product!

I only need to show you this part number. 545001001 . Google it like this {545001001 cylinder}. this comes up as a poulan pro trimmer cylinder. I got this part number off of husqvarna's parts break down list for husqvarna 128l/LDX trimmer. The 128l/LDX trimmer is a 100.00 poulan pro trimmer wrapped in orange plastic instead of yellow. I didnt know husqvarna stickers cost over 100.00. This trimmer has one piston ring not two like a real husqvarna. It does however have the chrome cylinder lining. this would be poulans {Durachrome} cylinder.
If you want a husqvarna thats a true husqvarna get the 223l. Thats really the lower end husqvarna {for now}.
the 128l/ldx trimmers do not have the black plate stating husqvarna made in sweden like true husqvarnas have. In fact I could not locate an origin sticker/plate anywhere on it? My search told me its built in U.S.A..
That tells me the poulan/weedeater plant here owned by husqvarna. If you want this trimmer buy it with the poulan name and save 100.00.
The poulan PP133 trimmer appears to look just like this model. {minor plastic changes}. the first several numbers on the cylinder match . the last few numbers are different. But the poulan pro model cylinder is sold as a kit form. Cylinder and ring set combined. Thus the number change. The pp133 is rated at 33cc not 28cc like this model. Any small engine mechanic will tell you not to look at cc ratings. look at hp. rating. Big box stores get too advertise high cc ratings on small engines for sales tactics.
I'm not saying this is a bad trimmer. I bet its a real good home owner trimmer like advertised. I just think Husqvarna should put the correct name were it belongs and not mislead people. If I wasnt one of those people that researched everthing to death I'd not discovered this. I recomend researching anything over 100.00. Today it saved me 100.00 dollars. Hope I saved you money too.

This trimmer is practically ready to use right out of the box.
1) Slit open one end of the box to roll out the machine
2) Flip up handle and tighten the lock knob
3) Add oil (included)
4) Add fuel (not included)
5) Connect spark plug wire to spark plug
6) Set throttle, pump primer bulb, pull on starter handle
Mine fired up on the 2nd pull. The trimmer head will not turn until the control bar is held against the handle. I am surprised how quiet the machine is! Buy plenty of line. Mine came with line installed and one pair of replacements. I was getting aggressive and trashed my line in 15 minutes. This is lighter and easier to maneuver than a normal lawn mower. I wanted a self-propelled model but am happy I didn't waste the extra $$ because this one is plenty easy to push & pull around. My property is on a slight slope so this is important to me. I was aggressively cutting 3' tall weeds and some got wrapped up in the head stalling the motor, however, it is very easy to remove the tangle - nothing like fighting the weed-snarls I get in my hand-held string trimmer.
I am very impressed with this machine. Based upon my experience with other power equipment I expect this will last a very long time.

Swisher ST65022DXQ Trim Max 6.5 HP Trimmer Mower Review

Swisher ST65022DXQ Trim Max 6.5 HP Trimmer Mower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I flashed the plastic and my Swisher DXQ was delivered less than a week later. Having used it for several days now, I'll post my review here.
Some assembly is required. You'll put on the wheels, and the handle. I noted what another reviewer said here previously about the handle coming loose, so I used lock-tite on the handle nuts, and they have not come loose yet. Yes, the wheels are plastic, but remember this unit is under $400. Besides, you'll appreciate the lighter weight (no self-propel on this model).
The unit comes with a small can of Briggs oil, just enough to fill the crankcase, nice touch. Put in some gas and the engine cranked right up for me and ran well.
What I use it for: I have some open areas (septic fields, horse barn areas, etc) which tend to get overgrown with high thick weeds. I use the Swisher to 'pre-cut' those areas, going in and knocking down chest-high overgrowth to about 4 inches. After this, I follow up with the rider mower and put on the finish cut.
I have found the DXQ is adequate for this task. The 6.5HP Briggs flat-head (not OHV) engine is just about the smallest motor acceptable for this work. In very thick or high overgrowth you'll find this motor challenged with the the load, and you can even stall it if you push too fast. But if you slow down your pace a little it will pull through it fine. For most knee-high weeds and overgrowth, this motor is sufficient to take you through it at a steady slow walking pace (yeah, just like the TV commericals for the DR mowers :).
You won't make a smooth pretty cut with this machine. When you're done with an area that had substantial heavy overgrowth, it will look rough and overlaid with 'hay', like a tractor had gone over it with a bush-hog cutter. If this is what you want, you're good to go. For me, I wait a couple of hours for the hay and clippings to dry out, then I go over it with the rider mower. It's a lot easier on the mower than plowing through the high stuff straight off, and the results look beautiful.
The trimmer head spins clockwise, as viewed from operator's position. I have found it helps to 'outline' an area, then go around it in shrinking counter-clockwise loops. This lets you throw the cut debris to your right, away from the uncut area that you will cut on the next pass.

The machine is LOUD. There's the engine noise, plus a nearly ultrasonic noise from the trimmer line. You will definately want earplugs, or some form of hearing protection.
The size of the trimmer line is .130 or .150. I've found this size line blazes away through vegetation overgrowth, but it doesn't like trimming up against hard solid objects such as concrete foundations or wooden fence posts. Doing that makes flex too much and it breaks off quickly, back at the spindle. You'll want to carry some spare pieces of line in your pocket, for those instances. Or just keep the Swisher in the open overgrowth areas, and it'll be fine.

I removed the guard around the trimmer head, in order to let the machine 'breathe' better and more easily eject the cut vegetation. I'm not recommending this for everyone, but just saying it works better for me. The Swisher comes with a free set of eye protection goggles. You'll need them. Stuff flies everywhere.

Another reviewer mentioned the cooling air intake on top of the engine getting clogged, and this does happen. This Briggs engine cover has a fixed stationary grille over the air intake. With all the debris blowing around, a lot of it will get stuck on that grille and it will reduce airflow into the cooling fins. Other Briggs engine models have the grille attached to the flywheel, so it's spinning around at engine speed, and tends to be more self-cleaning. That would have been helpful here. So every so often you'll want to reach down with your (gloved) hand and brush debris away from the intake grille. It comes off with two small phillips screws, so remove it and clean it out good every few hours.
This is a hard-working engine when you're cutting substantial overgrowth, so it goes through a tank of gas pretty quickly. In addition, I'd suggest doing about a 5 hour oil change interval for the same reason. The machine gets dirty. Keep a brush handy for removing debris from the air cleaner, carb, gas cap, etc.
When you're buying equipment like this, it's important to analyze your needs honestly, and choose the appropriate machine for the task. With that said, the DXQ is basically a decent ENTRY LEVEL machine. It has the smallest size engine acceptable, no electric start, and no self propel. It's not going to have the power or features of it's big brothers. (That is, if you're planning to knock down multiple acres of heavy overgrowth, or have challenging terrain to deal with, you maybe should be looking at a bigger machine.) But you're not going to be paying $1500 to $2000 for this machine either. Just 400 bucks lands the DXQ on your doorstep in about week. My particular needs are to control of seasonal and occasional overgrowth of smaller (sub-acre) areas. And the DXQ does that job quite well.
I found the other reviews here helpful in letting me know just what I was getting into. Based on that and the attractive price tag compared to all the other models, I felt confident in ordering this unit.
After using the Swisher DXQ for a few days, learning its strengths and limitations, I actually found myself having too much fun using it. Those bad boy gangsta weeds had tormented me long enough, and now they were goin' down before me. I was feeling a little like Al Pachino in 'Scarface': "You want a piece of this?? Well say Hello to MY LITTLE FRIEND!"

Enjoy and be safe.

The Swish 6.5 HP Trim Max trimmer mower is designed to reduce back stress associated with hand-held mowers, yet it provides three to four times the power for effectively trimming overgrown edges and mowing high weeds and lawns. Equipped with a 6 HP Briggs & Stratton engine, the Trim Max maneuvers rugged landscapes and manicured lawns with ease. While many other standing trimmer mowers feature sharp steel blades, the Trim Max uses a .155-inch diameter cutting line for greater safety. Users can adjust the line's tension belt for better performance and extended belt life. The trimmer mower cuts a wide 22-inch swath and automatically turns off when idle, saving fuel and adding further safety. Powdercoat paint covers all metal parts for greater durability. The trimmer head is located on the left side of the mower while 14-inch wheels allow the trimmer mower to turn corners deftly while providing clearance in rougher terrain. To prevent debris from clustering around the machine, Swisher built a debris guard onto the rear of the trimmer mower. The Trim Max also benefits from easy care as all bearings are sealed, so there's no need for lubrication. The simple task of replacing the cutting line requires no tools, and the trimmer mower runs on regular unleaded gasoline. What's in the Box Mower, one container of engine oil, replacement trimmer line, and protective goggles.

Husqvarna 323L 24.5cc E-Tech 2-Cycle Gas Powered Straight Shaft String Trimmer With Smart Start Review

I have a small yard; probably only a quarter acre. The price on this trimmer seems high until you know the facts. It is actually quite reasonably priced. This trimmer will work as a trimmer, edger, and blower; all without attachments.
I've owned electric trimmers and cheap gas trimmers before. None of them even compare to this trimmer. This trimmer hits the grass and weeds and knocks it down first time! It is so powerful that you use the throttle as a throttle not an on-off switch like the electric and cheap gas trimmers. This trimmer is exceptionally quiet and smooth also. Additionally, even though it is only 9lbs (only 2 lbs heaver than the really cheap trimmers) it is one of the most powerful trimmers you can buy.
As far as edging goes, I have never used a trimmer to edge before because it has been such a waste of time. However, with this trimmer, you flip it over on its side (on the side you can see the head. If you flip it the wrong way you won't be able to see the cutting) grab on the handle which conveniently is in position and trim away. I trim two sidewalks and my driveway.
Today I discovered that I could blow off my sidewalk with the trimmer. Just make sure you have 18" of sting out, throttle her up and swing back and forth. The grass just blows off. Fantastic!
There is one other benefit from the high quality machine. Because it is so effective, I get finished really quickly. I can trim my house and fence; edge the driveway and sidewalk; and blow the sidewalk of in about 15 minutes. This means I don't use very much gas and one tank lasts for about 4 sessions.
I can't say enough good things about this trimmer. When you buy it, you will love it.

I just bought the 223L to replace a 5 year old, lightly used Echo SRM-210i which froze-up (piston is hung in the cylinder). Wished I had bought the Husqvarna when I bought the Echo.
Pros:
* Easy to start and stay running. (The Echo would start easy but it would tend to stall (and sometimes quit until it warmed up.)
* Very lightweight.
* Easy to maneuver - it just glides across the ground.
* Powerful - this machine cuts through 1/4" brush with no problems using stock string.
Cons: Only has a two year warranty compared to Echo's 5 years. However, the place I bought the Husq (Home Improvement store starting with L) had a 3 extended warranty for $39. The total price of the Husqvarna and the extended warranty was about in line with Echo's compatible model (which has a smaller engine).

I previously owned a professional-model Shindaiwa trimmer, which was great and nearly indestructible. This one by Swisher has an advanced type of Shindaiwa engine, is lighter weight, and due to its higher RPM cuts unbelievably well. Vines, twigs on tree branches, tall weeds, all are practically vaporized. The self-feeding spool works as advertised-- you can restring it in 30 seconds, without tools-- once you know how it works and what to expect. The manual does a very poor job of explaining how the spool works. It only provides an illustration with arrows and symbols, and no text explaining how you're supposed to thread the replacement line. I did it wrong the first time, then had to use up the line by trimming, with only one feed instead of two, because I couldn't figure out how to remove the line once installed. Now I know what to expect and can load new line in no time.

Engineered well it starts easy and whacks weeds like a sheep on steroids. The small capacity gas tank is a good idea because when I finish the rough areas I am about on empty. So I am starting each job with a fresh tank of fuel. But it isn't a gas hog, I only fill it to about half a tank. Overall I am very pleased with this trimmer.
