Bosch RA1200 Deluxe Router Table Review

I just bought this table a few days ago and am generally happy with the sturdiness of the table itself. However, the left fence did not line up with the right fence. I think the fence is made out of cast aluminum not iron as it is pretty lite. I set the fence on the table and it wobbled, when I checked with a straight edge it was 1/16" off, the left side of the left fence tiled backward. I took the fence back and got a replacement fence and it was ok. The way the fence mounts to the table is with carriage bolts, this seemed pretty tacky to me for such an expensive table. When ever you adjust the fence, you have to reach under the table and apply pressure to the carriage bolts to keep them from turning as you try to retighten. The mounting plate has hole patterns for bosch routers so my dewalt would not fit without drilling, my Porter Cable fit into the existing holes ok. The base plate has no provision for adjusting the height to make it flush with the table, mine is lower than the table by about 1/16 inch. This was noticable because the first board I ran through it hung up on the base plate, then the chamfer was not perfect because of the warped fence. Not very impressive. I will fix the base plate by drilling 4 holes in the corners and threading them and installing allen screws for leveling. I would probably but this table again because I need something portable but I am not happy with having to "fix" the table to make it work right.

JessEm 02101 Mast-R-Lift - 9 1/4-Inch x 11 3/4-Inch Review

JessEm 02101 Mast-R-Lift - 9 1/4-Inch x 11 3/4-Inch

This is a high quality router lift, no doubt about it. It is heavy, sturdy, solidly built piece of equipment. The only problem is it is missing a major feature that can be found on at least one other router lift.
The 8.25 x 11.25 inch lift is designed to fit in bench dog router tables. Mounting and leveling the lift in such a table is a breeze. There are sungger bars on the side and back that make sure the lift does not move around in the opening in the table. Loading a Porter Cable 7518 router into the lift is also as easy as can be.
The action of the crank handle is solid, and it is possible to make very fine adjustments the height of the bit (1 full turn = 1/16th of an inch in bit height). There is a bit of backlash when changing directions on the crank, but this is going to be true of any router lift. The inserts are easy to install and fit snug and flush to the top.
With a Porter Cable 7518 installed in the lift, it is possible to change the bit from above the table. This is one of the main reasons for investing in a router lift to begin with. The only problem is that any time you want to change the bit you have to crank the router all the way to the top, and at 1/16th inch per turn, that's a lot of cranking - don't forget it's not just the bit, but also the collet and chuck that need to be above the table in order to get the wrenches on them.
If one of the benefits you are looking for in a router lift is the ability to change bits quickly and easily, I would suggest looking for a lift with an easier way to raise the router all the way to the top. At the time of this review the only lift I am aware of that accomplishes this is the Woodpecker Quicklift, but I am sure others will be adding this feature to their lifts in due time. I own the woodpecker lift and I recommend it highly, the quality is as good as the Jessem and the quick lift feature makes all the difference.
If you are not concerned with changing bits that often, or you don't mind a lot of cranking, the Jessem lift is a great lift to own.

Add the Mast-R-Lift to your router table and take your fixed base router to another level, literally! Bit changes are convenient because the collet is accessible above the table. The Mast-R-Lift was designed for the most popular router motor on the market the Porter-Cable 7518 (3.5" diameter motors will fit with an appropriate adapter, sold separately). Each turn of the crank precisely raises the bit 1/16". The calibrated gauge makes it easy to make incremental adjustments as fine as 1/512" (less than 0.002"). The Mast-R-Lift is constructed of the highest quality components including a plate machined from 1" aluminum with a 3-1/2" opening that accepts the included phenolic insert to close the hole to 2" for smaller bits. Unique leveling bars are located at each corner to bring the plate flush with your router table surface. The medium plate is sized for 9-1/4" x 11-3/4" openings found on JessEm, Woodhaven, Woodpeckers, and many other router tables. The small plate is sized for 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" openings found on Bench Dog router tables. Includes an insert wrench, starting pin, and detailed instructions. Router motor is not included. Mast-R-Lift adapters allow you to use your 3-1/2" diameter motor (Porter-Cable 690, DeWalt 610, Bosch 1617, 1618, 1617EVS and 1618EVS) in the Mast-R-Lift clamp block.PC 7518 3-1/4 HP Motor. Spare the expense of the base and purchase only the motor of a Porter Cable 7518 Router. Includes 1/2" collet and wrenches.

JessEm 06001 Mite-R-Slide Miter Gauge Accessory for Router Table Review

JessEm 06001 Mite-R-Slide Miter Gauge Accessory for Router Table
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There's a lot of choices out there - But three things made me chose JessEm for my router setup -
And along with it this Slide.
1. I'm a relativley new woodworker. I wanted to buy - And USE - A system - Not spend my time creating/building one. JessEm had everthing I needed to put together a complete router table/lift/fence/slide/stand package. And they fit - And work - Together - Exactly and Precisely.
2. The reviews on all their equipment are "top end".
3. The quality of the stand - And the rest of the line are everything claimed. Built with precision - They deliver precise routing.
I added a Porter Cable 7518 router (fits this setup perfectly), a Rousseau switch, and an HTC2000 Universal Mobile Base.
And now I'm in really "in business".
You get what you pay for - Do it right up front.
Hint: Buy the JessEm 02021 4-Piece Tab-Loc Insert Ring Set up front. You'll want 'em and use 'em.
Last Note: The Slide - Shown in the photo in Amazon, JessEm's on line catalog, and their printed brochure isn't what's shipped.
The "old" model had an on/off detent switch. According to JessEm's Customer Service, they've upgraded the Slide - Doing away with the on/off switch. And that's what you get... Or should.

Kreg PRS1040 Precision Router Table System Review

Kreg PRS1040 Precision Router Table System
Average Reviews:

If you are a serious woodworker, this is by far THE best router table to buy. I bought the complete table, fence, stand, casters & micro-adjuster. Every little piece of hardware was accounted for and very neatly packaged. The reliability and accuracy of the fence make it very easy to use. And if you don't want to drill the insert yourself, for 3o bucks, Kreg will drill it for you, shipping included.
The assembly instructions were written in simple, easy-to-understand English and not like the 'Chinglish' from other manufacturers who outsourced their products. This router table examplifies American ingenuity & workmanship. It's definitely a 5-star rating.

Taking design cues from high-end table saw rip fences, the Kreg Precision Router Table System features a fully enclosed, t-square style fence for complete use of your miter slot and small adjustments on the fly. Its vibration and noise resistant MDF table has a high-pressure laminate Easy-Slide Micro-Dot skin, which makes it easy to slide workpieces across the surface. It also boasts a precise insert plate that mounts to any router without the usual extra holes you don't need. Bottom-up levelers feature eight individual contact points for leveling accuracy, and dual reducing rings (2 inches; 1-13/16 inches) provide the convenience of Porter Cable guide bushing capability. For added flexibility, independent fence faces allow the table to double as a vertical jointer.

Bench Dog 40-001 ProTop Contractor Benchtop Router Table Review

Bench Dog 40-001 ProTop Contractor Benchtop Router Table
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Absolutely no complaints about this table. It arrived in A1 condition, carefully packed. Assembly was simple thanks to both the clear instructions and the quality of the components. I doubt that constructing the table took much more than 15-20 minutes after reading the instructions.
The fence is a solid aluminium extrusion. Being a one-piece fence simplifies setting-up when working compared to some 2-piece fences. The sub fences adjust easily making zero clearance work straightforward.
The Lexan table insert supplied with the table has to be drilled and countersunk to accept whatever router you are using, which means a bit of care is required when aligning the centre of the router baseplate with the centre of the hole in the insert. Once this is done and the plate marked, the Lexan drills easily. The Lexan plate is fairly solid and shows no flexing when the router is attached (I use an ELU OF97E - now appearing as a European version of the Dewalt 621) and it works well. This router has the on/off trigger on one of the plunge handles on the opposite side of the router from the fine depth adjuster, which means it can be a bit hard to get hold of once the router is inverted in the cabinet. This can be addressed easily by putting a switch on the outside of the cabinet, if it proves a problem.
At 35lbs this table is portable enough to move around the shop as and when you need it. If I want to use the table I stand it on a Workmate and secure it with four spring clamps. This has provided plenty of stability and a comfortable working height whilst requiring minimal set-up time.
I looked at a lot of tables before reading about this one in a magazine review. I have seen nothing that comes close in terms of solid build and quality/robustness of fence for the price.

Don't let its compact size fool you. The award-winning Bench Dog 40-001 ProTop Contractor Benchtop Router Table makes use of a unique forward offset router location and the dual-position ProFence to provide as much usable work surface as most full-size router tables. Designed to be durable, easy to move around the job site, and ready to accept any router, it provides the versatility, stability, and guidance you need to complete precision projects safely.
Versatile Design for Precision WorkWhether you're a professional craftsperson or a serious do-it-yourselfer, a router table like the ProTop Contractor lets you tackle jobs that would be difficult or impossible to complete precisely with a handheld router.
A top-quality fence is critical to the performance of any router table system, and this system relies on the feature-loaded ProFence. Its heavy-duty, one-piece aluminum frame is fully machined on the front and bottom surfaces to ensure it's flat, true, and square. Easy-adjust sub-fences and bit guard are also included.
The ProTop Contractor provides a flexible setup that can be adjusted to project-specific needs, with an aluminum miter accessory track that is adjustable to fit all standard miter gauges, plus accessory T-slots on both the table and fence that are perfect for mounting featherboards, stops, fence risers, and switches. This allows you to accommodate the full range of router applications, from cutting dadoes and slots to crafting precise joints. For work with large panels, this table also offers dual fence slots, so you can flip the fence around quickly and easily.
An integrated 2-1/2-inch dust port fits standard shop vac hoses to help keep your work area clear of debris for safety, visibility, and operator comfort.
Dependable Construction for Tough JobsThe non-marring laminate top is built using stress-skin construction for strength and flatness, and it measures 24 x 16 inches to provide a large work area. Exclusive twin steel rails support your router, while the enclosed birch plywood cabinet reduces dust and noise, and its solid panel construction makes it stronger than cheap plastic or stamped steel stands. The cabinet's rubber feet prevent table slippage and double as isolation mounts for dramatically reduced vibration.
This table's setup will accept any router, and the included router plate is predrilled to make installation extra-easy for most popular routers from leading brands like Craftsman, DeWalt, Fein, Hitachi, Makita, Ryobi, and Skil. The 15-inch inside-cabinet height provides plenty of space for whatever router you use, plus room for Bench Dog's ProLift and other accessories (not included).
This portable router table weighs just 40 pounds, and it requires assembly. It is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
About Bench DogBench Dog offers a growing line of router tables, safety accessories, and tools for everyone from building and woodworking professionals to schools and serious beginners.
The company began in 1995 with Norston Fontaine, Karen Slatter, and the simple idea that great tools are the result of great design and solid engineering. Since then, Bench Dog tools have received an enthusiastic response from customers, trade publications, and the woodworking community at large.
