(More customer reviews)After using Powermatic's new drum sander for about 6 months now, I have to say this is one quality machine. I upgraded from a performax 16/32 and it was a choice between the Woodmaster, performax 22", or the powermatic. Although I was concerned about quality since the buyout by WHT ( Jet ), I went with powermatic anyway. I am happy to report that the quality is top notch. Everything is built like an industrial u.s. made machine but at an import price. It's 5 h.p. motor is plenty, and the dual drums mean a lot less paper changes and passes through the sander. If your like me and don't have $8000 plus for a decent belt sander this machine is definatly worth the price. My only peave is with the sandpaper. The drums come wrapped with a 4" wide roll of Klingspor paper but you can only buy 3" paper rolls which are more difficult to wrap. And getting the first wraps requires quite a bit of trial and error since you have no template to guide you. Notice... the premarked rolls for other sanders won't work with this machine since the paper wraps the opposite direction.
That mentioned I still give powermatic 5 stars for this one.

Grizzly G0561 7" x 12" Metal Cutting Bandsaw Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned this saw for about 4 months now and made over 1000 cuts with it.
The Good: It's a very strong unit, Everything is made from cast iron to it's very strong and easy to adapt with your own tables and jigs and such. The vise is a design which I've never seen before, once you back it off about 1 turn it moves freely until you tighten it again really speeding up material changes.

The Bad: The manual says nothing about coolant and Grizzly doesn't sell any type of cutting coolant. Even with the coolant on very slow it sprays everywhere, I made a sheetmetal guard to collect most of it and funnel it back into the resivoir. And after I owned this saw for about 1 month the drive pulley started getting a very loud creaking sound whenever it was running, I checked it out and it looks ok but the sound never went away. Still cuttin' though! For the money, I'd buy it again.

SHOP FOX W1715 3/4 HP Metal Cutting Bandsaw Review

(More customer reviews)Ok, this is my first bandsaw so i have nothing to use for a comparison. I bought the Shop Fox because it had a 3/4 hp motor and most other brands had a 1/2 hp motor. Amazon was also shipping this for free. I'm still convinced that all of these types of bandsaws are made in the same factory in China and just painted different colors but who knows. I have used this machine to build a welding cart and it works well. I only wish you could adjust the angle of the material you are cutting without the use of tools every time. Also be aware that to change the speed of the blade you must move the belt to one of 3 different sized pulleys. I had hoped for a 3 speed switch or something but it was unclear from the listing how the speed adjustment was made. I also had to adjust the blade a little to get it to cut square but it was no big deal. Overall i am happy with this saw. It is easily one of the most useful tools in the garage.

The original fence was a joke, so I bought the Craftsman XRC Align-a-Rip on sale for just over $100 thinking it was a good fence, but little did I know until it arrived that it was just another fence that you had to push from the back before you could lock it. I dealt with this for years until finally I had enough! (and enough money). I read the Wood Magizine review,and it seemed this shopfox fence was equal with the Biseymiser. Couldn't get the Biseymiser as good of a price as this one with the same length rail. I was very impressed when it arrived. I weighs so much they shipped it to my house on a UPS semi! This fence is rock solid and I don't see how any other fence could be any better. I like the way these models lock with nothing in the front to worry about.

(More customer reviews)The Delta Versa-feeder was easy to assemble. The only problem encountered was that the overarm end was slightly mushroomed and required light filing to attach to the pivot ball. This appeared to be a shipping problem which could easily be corrected with Delta placing a protective cap on the ends.I have run 4' long 7/8" oak through the Versa-Feeder on a Delta Unisaw and it performed well. It made easy work of a tedious and some-what dangerous job. I am also going to use it on a Walker-Turner 3/4" shaper where it will usually be mounted. The drawback to the Versa-Feeder I feel would be in it's pivot ball and overarm design. It makes it harder to fine tune the Versa-Feeder to the stock and machine it is mounted on. But at better than 1/2 the price of Delta's 1/4 hp model the value is in the savings. I feel with more practice it will become easier for me to set up.

SHOP FOX W1701 1-Horsepower Shaper Review

(More customer reviews)I can't find anything I don't like about this shaper except for a locking height adjustment, but that's not really causing much of a problem. It's better than any delta I've used including the x5 because of the two direction switch (delta's switch is within the cabinet) and the more precise alignment of the fence. Plus the fence can be adjusted and locked down when the Deltas are wobbly. The shop fox's fence stays aligned with the miter gauge too. It's a nightmare to do that with a delta.
Never get a machine with an aluminum fence. You'll regret it.
I cut 2-1/4" crown molding on it often and it's never had a problem. The motor is about twice the size of a 3hp delta x5.

Shop Fox W1668 3/4 HP 13-Inch Bench-Top Drill Press Review

(More customer reviews)The press was well packaged and undamaged. The instruction and assembly manual did not completely match the drill press I received. I guess, if you can't figure out how to put it together, you shouldn't be using it anyway. I have a small shop. Everything is on casters. For my shop, it's perfect. Easy to operate, change drill speeds and engage the oscillating feature. It comes with a set of sanding drums. The mounting hardware doesn't hold on to the sanding drum very well, but it works. I added a 3/4" plywood deck to the adjustable platform for sanding and drilling larger stock. This helps in keeping your stock square to the drill or sanding drum. The oscillating feature works well, but you need to be careful how much pressure you place on the object you are sanding to keep from damaging the mechanism. Once you figure out the proper pressure on the sanding drum, the results are quite good. The extra money you pay for all the features is worth it.
